PEROVITCH, Prof. Dr. Milosh Professor Dr. Milosh Perovitch, (Milos Perovic), 84, beloved husband of the late Smiljka C. Perovitch, died Wednesday, (May 17, 2006) at Caleb Hitchcock, Duncaster, in Bloomfield. Before moving to Caleb Hitchcock, Dr. Perovitch lived in West Hartford for 22 years and thereafter in Avon. He was born October 5, 1921 in Yugoslavia, son of the late Dr. Ivo Perovic, the regent to King Peter II of Yugoslavia and Vera L. Perovic. Dr. Perovitch graduated from the college of King Aleksander and continued his studies at the University of Belgrade, School of Medicine, where he finished with honors as Doctor of Medicine. He specialized in neuroradiology. He defended his Doctor of Medical Sciences thesis after studying at the University of Stockholm, Sweden, the University of London at the Clinic of Neurology and at Johns Hopkins University, Department of Radiology, Baltimore, MD. His interest was focused on research related to the application of radiological methods in the diseases of the nervous and vascular systems. Dr. Perovitch spent a few years in Geneva, Switzerland. He was then invited to return to the Department of Radiology at the Johns Hopkins University on a permanent basis. In 1971, he came with another colleague to organize the Radiology Department at the University of Connecticut where he headed the department. After his retirement, Dr. Perovitch returned to Johns Hopkins to continue his research. He was a member of a number of European Medical Societies and was also an honorary member of the Swiss Neurological Society. Dr. Perovitch was a member of the New York Academy of Sciences, the American Medical Association, the Johns Hopkins University Alumni Association and the Johns Hopkins Medical Surgical Association. He was fluent in several languages and leaves over two hundred scientific papers and books dealing with his research. Dr. Perovitch and his wife became U.S. citizens soon after their second arrival in the United States. There are no calling hours. A graveside service will be Tuesday, May 23, 10 a.m. in West Avon Cemetery, Avon. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, May 23, 11 a.m. at The Church of St. Patrick, 110 Main Street, Farmington. Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike, Canton, has charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to "Johns Hopkins University" and sent to The Russell H. Morgan, Department of Radiology and Radiological Science, Johns Hopkins Medicine, 100 North Charles Street, Suite 429, Baltimore, MD 21201.
