BURK, Robert M.

Robert M. Burk, 79, of Windsor Locks, formerly of Windsor, husband of the late Patricia (Keegan) Burk and Jean (Walker) Burk, passed away, Thursday, (July 25, 2013). Born in Hartford, son of the late Herman and Dorothy (Barry) Burk, he was raised there and graduated from Weaver High School, Class of 1953 and served in the US Army during the Korean War. He had been employed by the Birken Manufacturing Company, Bloomfield, starting as a bench grinder and retiring after 35 years as Executive Vice President of Production. Robert was a licensed real estate agent. He served many years as Windsor Locks' Civil Defense Director and on the Windsor Locks Redevelopment Agency. In addition, he was a Boy Scout Leader in Windsor for many years and was a former member of Windsor Lodge # 2060 BPOE. He enjoyed spending time at his lake home in Monterey, MA. He leaves three daughters, Linda Sendobry of Stafford, Lisa Burk and her husband Jerry Barney of Torrington, and Laura Nolan of Windsor Locks; 10 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
His family will receive friends Sunday, July 28, 2013, from 3-6 p.m. at the Nicholson & Carmon Funeral Home, 443 East Street, Suffield. Family and friends may gather Monday, July 29, 9 a.m. at Nicholson & Carmon's followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m. at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 52 South Elm Street, Windsor Locks.
