STEWART, Scott D. 
Scott D. Stewart, of Simsbury, passed away suddenly on Friday (November 2, 2012) two days before his 77th Birthday. Born in Loveland, CO, he was the son of the late Everette Elijah Stewart and Alta Louise (Synder) Stewart. He grew up in Loveland, CO and graduated from Loveland High School in 1953. Scott joined the US Coast Guard serving on the Coast Guard Cutter Clover, Adak, Alaska before attending Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO. He was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, graduating in 1964, and then joined the Rocky Mountain National Park Service, located in Estes Park, CO. He met his wife, Carolyn M. Mathews, in Estes and they were married September 3, 1965 in Lecompton, KS. Scott enjoyed many years working for the Travelers Insurance Company, first in Denver, then moving to the home office in Hartford in 1976, at which time he moved his family to Connecticut. Besides his wife, he is survived by his son, Thad M. Stewart and friend Lisa M. Hey of Granby; his daughter, Jodi S. and her husband Thomas J. Welch of Shelton; and two sisters, Sherry J Jordan and her family of Aurora, CO, and Sonja L. Hamel and her family of Rancho Murieta, CA. 
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, November 9, 12 Noon, at the Hayes-Huling & Carmon Funeral Home, 364 Salmon Brook St., Granby. His family will receive friends on Friday, prior to the service, 10:30 a.m.-12 Noon. Burial will be private.
