Theade "Raymond" Martel Jr.

MARTEL, Theade "Raymond", Jr Theade "Raymond" Martel, Jr., 85, of South Windsor, beloved husband of Veronica (Bouchard) Martel, passed away peacefully on Saturday (April 12, 2008). Born in Nashua, New Hampshire, son of the late Theade and Florence (Marshall) Martel, he lived in Hartford before moving to South Windsor 43 years ago. Prior to his retirement, Raymond was employed by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford for 15 years, and was previously employed by the former Royal Typewriter in Hartford. He was a parishioner of St. Margaret Mary Church, South Windsor. Raymond was a U. S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and received the Purple Heart. He was a Life Member of V.F.W. Post 254, Hartford. In addition to his loving wife of over 53 years, he is survived by his beloved children, Sandra Pianka and her husband John of Contoocook, NH, Dianna Martel of Barre, VT, Wayne Martel and his wife Patricia of South Windsor and Debra Martel of South Windsor; six grandchildren, John Pianka Jr. and is wife Genera, Jason and Heather Pianka, Veronique Kramer and her fiancé Joshua Gallop, and Nicolas and Danielle Landry; a great granddaughter, Elise Gallop; a sister, Florence Henderson of Rocky Hill and many nieces, nephews and cousins. His family will receive relatives and friends at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Road, South Windsor on Wednesday, April 16 from 5 to 8 p.m. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Thursday, April 17 at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at St. Margaret Mary Church, Hayes Road, South Windsor.
