Thomas J. Rozdilski

1931 - 2021

Thomas John Rozdilski, 89, of Simsbury, passed away on January 19, 2021 at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford. He was born on December 27, 1931 in Waterbury, Connecticut to the late John and Eva (Shkymba) Rozdilski. He grew up on a farm in Wolcott with five older sisters and an older brother, attended Crosby High School in Waterbury, and graduated from UConn in the School of Engineering. Tom loved to tell the story about his last minute decision to join his college buddies on a trip to California, where he met Iris Snyder. They married in Las Vegas in 1956 before returning to Connecticut, settling in Simsbury and raising five daughters. His career was in the aviation industry as a stress engineer working on helicopter designs, first at Kaman, then at Sikorsky Aircraft. He loved reading about WWII history, because his brother Joseph sadly died in the war in 1945. He was interested in antique cars and kept his family's Model A Ford for a long time. After retiring, he stayed active and enjoyed going on bicycle rides with a group of old friends. He loved nature, animals and the outdoors. Tom always put his family first and will be dearly missed. He is survived by his wife Iris Snyder Rozdilski of Simsbury, Connecticut, his daughter Jill Chanapai, her husband Pandit, their children Tara and Ben, his daughter Suzanne Roz Magoon, her husband Gary, their children Chris and Dan, his daughter Judy Volta, her husband Angelo, their children Mia and Lindsey, his daughter Amy Stolfi, her husband Jay, their children Thomas and Nick, his daughter Kim Roz, his great grandchild Bodhi, and his sister Helen Migliaro. Besides his parents, Tom was predeceased by his siblings Mary Rozdilski, Nellie Kosko, Anne Forte, Joseph Rozdilski, and Julia Rozdilski. There will be no funeral due to the pandemic.
