TURNER, William J., Jr. William J. Turner, Jr., 92, husband of the late Helen (Haydasz) Turner passed peacefully on Tuesday, (March 16, 2004). Born in Hartford on Sept. 3, 1911, son of the late William J. Turner, Sr. and Mary (Reardon) Turner. Mr. Turner leaves his sisters, Mary Holtz of Wethersfield, Margaret Szymanski of New Britain; in addition to several nieces and nephews. Mr. Turner resided in the Hartford area most of his life, having graduated from Hartford High, Class of 1930. As an Army Second Lt. during World War II, Mr. Turner served as both Rifle Platoon Leader and Motor Officer, training men of the Tank Destroyer Battalion in the European Theater of Operations. As a bus driver he retired from the Connecticut Co. in 1973, after 34 years of service. Mr. Turner was a Life Member of The Infantry Division Assn., in addition to the Barry Square Seniors. The funeral will be held on Saturday, March 20, at 11 a.m. from The Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd., Wethersfield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. in St. Luke's Church, 59 Eaton St., Hartford. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Saturday, from 10-11 a.m.
