John Hammond Obituary
Hattiesburg
Services will be held 10 A.M. Tuesday at Hulett Winstead Funeral Home for Mr. John C. Hammond, 84, who died Saturday, January 23, 2016, at his residence.
Interment will be in Roseland Park Cemetery.
Mr. Hammond retired as a manager of A&P Grocery Store and a security guard at Murray Envelope.
He was a member of Dixie Baptist Church, a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War, a member of Hattiesburg Masonic Lodge #397, and a member of The Order of the Eastern Star Hub City Chapter 334.
Mr. Hammond is preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Nell Hammond; one grandson, Jeramie Lee Hitchcock; and two brothers, Sammy and Evon Hammond.
He is survived by his wife, Daisy Hammond of Hattiesburg; two daughters, Jean Hitchcock of Petal, MS and Johnnie Andrews of Little Rock, AR; one step-son, Eddie Cross of Hattiesburg; one brother, Mike Hammond of Decatur, MS; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 5-8 Monday at Hulett-Winstead

So sorry to hear about Mr. Hammond. I use to work cleaning and stocking for Mr. Hammond as a 12-13 year old at the A&P on 4th street/Main and again at the A&P on Broadway Drive when I was 18. He was a good and fair man whom gave me my first job. I know his friends and family will miss him greatly. Our deepest sympathies go to the family.
