Veda Marie Casteel

LOVINGTON - Veda Marie Casteel, 81, of Lovington, died 12:58 a.m. Sunday (June 19, 2011) in her home. Celebration of Life services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Reed Funeral Home, Sullivan. Burial will be in the Keller Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 - 7 p.m. Wednesday. Memorials are suggested to the Lovington Ambulance Service. Online condolences may be sent to the family at reedfuneralhome.net. Mrs. Casteel was born July 21, 1929, the daughter of Wessel J. and Marie Stanton Alexander Bolsen. Veda had been a clerk at the Arthur Sale Barn, was a member of the Lovington First Christian Church, the Moultrie County Republican Women and served as a precinct committee woman. She also served as a Lovington Twp. Trustee. Veda married John Casteel on October 12, 1947 in Elwin, IL and he survives. Also surviving are her sons, Ward (Carolyn) Casteel and Berle (Linda) Casteel, both of Lovington; grandchildren, Lukas (Kim) Casteel of Lovington, Rachel (Paul) Marx of Sullivan, Ryan (Brent) Wildman of Sullivan, Brock (Erica) Casteel of Lovington, Derk (Heather) Casteel of Sullivan, Ranee (Robert) Kidd of Lovington; great grandchildren, Garrett, Tucker and Morgan Casteel and Kolten Kidd, all of Lovington, Sienna and Avery Casteel and Brycen Wildman, all of Sullivan; brother, John W. Bolsen of Sullivan; sister, Janice Tusing of Decatur. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Eunice Mocabee and a brother Donald Bolsen. Obituary written by family members.
