Charlotte Lazarus

1923 - 2017

LAZARUS, CHARLOTTE, passed away, surrounded by loved ones, on December 9, 2017 in Aventura, Florida. Charlotte is predeceased by her beloved husband, Morris ("Moe") Lazarus, and survived by her three children, Philip (wife Jane), Cheryl, and Karen (husband Joel); her two grandsons, Daren and Adam (wife Jennifer); and her brother-in-law, Malcolm, and his wife, Pat. Charlotte was born on December 3, 1923 in Providence, Rhode Island, the daughter of Simon ("Dick") Brownstein and Ethel Brownstein. She is a graduate of Hope High School in Providence, RI. On June 28, 1944, she married her sweetheart, Moe. They met on Halloween when they were both 13. They were together until March 2017 when Moe passed away - a love affair that spanned 80 years. Charlotte contributed to the war effort, while her husband, Moe, served as a naval officer on a destroyer, the U.S.S. Manley, in the South Pacific during WWII,. The family moved to south Florida in the 1950's where they were members of Temple Beth Shalom and Westview Country Club. In 2005 they moved to the Vi in Aventura, Florida. Moe and Charlotte loved each other deeply and enjoyed traveling and being with family. Her greatest joy was rearing their three children. Charlotte, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother was compassionate, caring, and a wonderful listener. Known for her beauty and grace, she was loved by all. She was resilient and overcame challenges with amazing strength, fortitude and a positive attitude. She will be deeply missed. We would like to thank the staff, those at the Vi Care Center, friends at the Vi, and her doctors, nurses, and attendants for their love, care, and concern in her later years. A graveside funeral will be held at Mt. Nebo Cemetery in Miami (305-261-7612) at 1:30 PM Friday December 15. Family will receive friends on Saturday, December 16 from 3:30 PM to 8:00 PM at 3630 Washington Lane, Cooper City, FL.
