Jane Walters Obituary

WALTERS, JANE, 95, of Coral Gables, passed away October 31, 2012. Born in Detroit, Michigan to Bud and Constance Baker. She married Dave Walters in 1942 and lived in North Carolina where Dave served in the Coast Guard. They moved to Coral Gables after the war where they raised their two sons. They lived a happy life together until his death in 2002. Jane worked as a realtor with Walter Freeman and was one of the original real estate agents for Esslinger-Wotten-Maxwell, where she worked for 30 years. She was considered an agent with integrity and honesty. One that her peers referred to for her brilliant memory and ability to remember every detail of every home she ever entered during a time when the internet was not a tool for agents. She considered her clients friends and her friends clients. Jane was Associate of the Year for the Coral Gables Board of Realtors and was a Member of the Million Dollar Club. She has been a member of the Coral Gables Women's Club, once served as secretary of the local Republican's Women's Club and was on the board of The Merrick House, the home of the Coral Gables founder. She and her husband Dave were long time members of the Country Club of Coral Gables. She is survived by sons Robert Lee Walters of Washignton D.C., William Hunter Walters of Coral Gables, and surrogate daughter Pat Kirstein Taratoot of Atlanta, Ga. This beloved mother and friend will be dearly missed. Graveside service will be on November 8th at 1:30 p.m., Woodlawn Park Cemetery NORTH, 3260 S.W. 8th Street.

Lee and Bill
Your mom was a great person and loved both of you dearly. She was sharp up to the very end. I enjoyed talking with her during our last visit there in December 2012. It was great to learn about your Dad and some history about the Hamburg area and her family heritage. She was a terrific wife and a great supporter of Dave. I always enjoyed talking to her, even though much of that was by telephone. I am so thankful we got to see her in December 2012. Please keep in touch. Our deepest condolences for the loss of such a special lady.

I will miss my long time caring friend of 34 years. Jane was a dignified, elegant lady always generous to her family and friends.

We worked together professionally for many years, she was successful and helpful to everyone.

With heartfelt sympathy to Bud and Bill.
