Coral Gables, Florida - Soren Edward Smith ("Kris") Christiansen V, 80, passed away August 5, 2021, after a courageous battle with cancer. In Sandusky, Ohio, Kris was born to S. Edward S. Christiansen IV and Mary Catherine Christiansen, nee Badger. At the age of 11, his family moved to Coral Gables, Florida, where he would spend the rest of his life.
He graduated from Coral Gables High School, shortly attended UNC, and returned to the Miami area where he and his father co-founded Equipment Company of America (ECOA), a materials handling products company with over 300 employees, which operated for more than 3 decades. In the '90s, he formed a partnership to create Adhesive Tape Products, Ltd. (ATP), a major global wholesaler of pressure-sensitive adhesive tapes, that continues to this day.
Kris will be remembered for his fantastic wit, terrific storytelling, and his love of his friends and family, especially his wife of 46 years, Theresa ("Terry") Christiansen, nee Dort. Respected and truly loved by his partners, employees, friends, and family, he touched so many lives and will be missed by all.
He is survived by his wife, Terry Christiansen, his four children, Courtney Fruge (Michael), Tiffany Moen (Eric), Soren Christiansen (Sarah), and Anson Christiansen (Sailyn), from his first marriage to Mona Coll, nee Fondren, and his 14 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and the nieces and nephews of his sister, Karen Davis (Robert), and brother William E. Christiansen (Terry). Our family was blessed in so many ways because of Kris Christiansen. While his passing brings sorrow, our family is comforted by celebrating his life and the treasured memories in our hearts.
A memorial gathering will be held at Van Orsdel Funeral & Cremation Services Kendall on Saturday from 3 p.m. -6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society @ www.cancer.org.
