Larry Ray Lovett 1945-2023 Larry Ray Lovett, 77, passed from this life on January 12, 2023, in El Paso, Texas. He was born in Gainesville, Texas December 6, 1945, to Jack and Geraldine (Gravette) Lovett. He is survived by his devoted wife of almost 48 years, Renate Lovett; his children: Robert (Nora), Sommer Lovett and Sean Lovett; and his grandchildren: Davis, Sarah & Cannon Lovett and Kahleb Collins. He was the 2nd oldest of 8 siblings. The family's claim to fame was the alliteration of the siblings' names. The boys: Larry Ray (d.2023), Garry Jay (d.1997), Barry Day, Darry Tay (d.2014) and the girls: Linda Fay, Glinda Kay, Brinda May and Winda Gay He had a hard life growing up, but his fondest memories were spending time at his Grandpa Dewey William and Grandma Nettie Mae's farm and with his Aunt Francis and Uncle Carl. He served 27 years in the US Army completing 3 tours of Vietnam and duty in the 1st Gulf War in Iraq and Kuwait at the tender age of 45. He served his country well and with honor earning the Silver Star, multiple Bronze Stars and multiple Purple Hearts. He liked to say he had almost been to more places around the world than he had not been. He loved the outdoors, camping, gold prospecting and spending time with his family. He was a big itinerant cat rescuer, a die-hard Dallas Cowboy fan, and music lover. He almost always had music on and met quite a few famous musicians including the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Red Hot Chili Peppers and more. He loved music from a wide range of genres from Sons of Pioneer, Bing Crosby and Benny Goodman and other Big Bands to his favorite all time group, The Beatles. He also liked "newer" music like Eminem, Alabama Shakes, loved Slash from Guns N'Roses, and even liked music from Prince. Family was very important to him, and he was an extremely hard worker and provider for his family. At one time in his life, he was doing his Army duty one weekend every month, going to college, working at a gas station some nights, driving a school bus and helping with janitor services at our local church/ward. He had a lot of ups and downs, but he loved his family very much. Services will be held at Meador Funeral Home, 401, Hwy 377 North, Whitesboro, Texas on January 19, 2023, with visitation to begin at noon with a Memorial Service to follow at 2:00 pm, Graveside Service at Oakwood Cemetery, Whitesboro, Texas.
