Larry Pierce

1957 - 2021

Larry David Pierce was born at an early age on April 15, 1957 to Elmer and Amber Pierce in Moses Lake, Washington. He grew up in a close-knit family and community with his life-long friend Steve Jones. He became an Eagle Scout and was very proud of that achievement. He loved to camp and waterski with his family every summer at Twin Lakes, WA.
After graduating from high school, Larry trained as a certified mechanic at Arizona Automotive Institute. He worked in Spokane, WA before he moved to Kirkland, WA as a part-owner of a Precision Tune. He met Sue Dorsing there, and they married on January 10, 1987. Their children Jason, Julie, and Jerry were born, and the family lived in Everett and Lake Stevens.

In 1989, Larry took a job at Boeing in Everett, where he worked for many years. During one of the Boeing layoffs, he was invited by his sister Patricia Fawcett and her husband John to train as a driving instructor with Defensive Driving School. Larry discovered that he loved teaching driver's ed, and he opened the Lake Stevens branch in June 2003. Larry was requested as an instructor often, and always had a goal of making learning fun.
Larry loved to go boating, and would happily pull the kids and friends on innertubes for hours around Lake Stevens on his boat. He enjoyed going camping, hunting, and fishing with family and friends.
Larry was a kind and generous man. Beneath a gruff exterior was the heart of a teddy bear. He loved God, his wife, kids, grandkids, family and friends deeply. All of his efforts went into providing for those he loved. He had a strong work ethic, but also knew how to have fun. He was great at giving big hugs. He always saw the beauty in nature, and enjoyed visiting his nephew Michael Kennedy and others on his motorcycle trips. He lived his life with intention, one day at a time, in gratefulness to God.
Larry Pierce is survived by his wife Sue Pierce, his brother Steven (and Shari) Pierce, his children Jason (and Kayla) Pierce, Julie (and Stephen) Hess, and Jerry Pierce, his grandchildren Melia Hess, Anthony Hess, and Aria Pierce, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Amber Pierce, brother Dayle Pierce, sister Pat Fawcett, and sister Sandra Countryman. He will be missed by many others, including his "brother" Keith Kyle.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Larry Pierce on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at 11 AM at Bethany Christian Assembly in Everett, WA with a reception to follow.
