Our dear mother Pearl was with her family when she passed away very peacefully in her home on Friday September 9, 2016, at the age of 94. She was an amazing mom to her daughters, Susan (Ludie) and Trish (Patty), and her son, Mick (Michael), who passed away two years ago- and Pearl was also a wonderful grandmother to Susan's daughter, Genna and Mick's daughter, Zoe, as well as a loyal and kind friend to so many. Pearl came from a large loving family and has many nieces and nephews, and cousins, as well as great nieces and nephews who have been close to her and love her- some even in Norway! Our beautiful mom touched so many people with her joy and laughter, in her long amazing life. She was born on October 13, 1921 in North Dakota. She moved to Everett, Washington with her family, the Landes, when she was just a little girl. Pearl attended Everett High School and made a great many friends who she had kept in contact with for many years, attending every high school reunion for over 50 years! Pearl, along with her mom, Sina and father, Halvor, and her five sisters and her brother, were very musical; mom had the most lovely singing voice you can imagine. Our home was filled with music and love. And the "Lande sister trio", including Pearl along with her sisters Esther Lande Unzelman and Ruth Lande Payne, became quite popular in Everett, singing for church functions, family gatherings, and even on the local radio. Mom loved singing her whole life, even in her later years. She sang to us such favorite songs as His Eye is on the Sparrow, Harbor Lights, You are my Sunshine and Melancholy Baby. Pearl married our dad, A. Jay Arellano in 1945, and they enjoyed nearly 50 wonderful years together until dad passed away in December of 1994. A. Jay was an excellent pianist and he enjoyed accompanying mom and her family in many of their musical events - and they both sang in the choir at our churches, first Martha Lake Community Covenant Church in Lynnwood, Wash., and then Esperance Baptist Church in Edmonds, Wash. Our mom and dad were the strength of our family, and we are grateful that their strong legacy lives on in our sweet memories and life long experiences. Pearl's faith was very important to her. She loved Jesus and believed that she would be singing in heaven one day with the other Angels, and we know that's true now. We will miss her terribly, but we know that God and our family in heaven need her in their choir. "A mother is a flower plucked from heaven." We love and miss you Mom. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2016, at 11 a.m. at the Beck's Tribute Center, 405 Fifth Avenue S. in Edmonds; with Evergreen Cemetery in Everett.
