Arlene Alice Russell, 82, of Benton Harbor passed away Monday, April 18, 2022, surrounded by her loving family in St. Joseph.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, April 22, at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, 555 E. Delaware Ave., Benton Harbor, with Fr. James Adams officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Benton Harbor. Friends may visit with the family beginning at 10 a.m. Friday at the church.
Mass donations in Arlene's name may be made to St. John/St. Bernard Parish.

Arlene was born Feb. 6, 1940, in Benton Harbor to Robert and Alice (Kuball) Hahn.
Her mother passed away when Arlene was only 6 years old and she was raised by her aunt, Lydia Vetter.
She graduated from Benton Harbor High School, class of 1958.
On Aug. 6, 1960, she married John Robert Russell in Benton Harbor.
Along with caring for her family and home, Arlene worked as a hair stylist at Goldblatt's & J.C. Penney in Benton Harbor before operating her own salon in her home. In her younger years, Arlene enjoyed bowling and spending time at the casino. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, pottery, playing cards and serving as hostess to all of the neighborhood kids during the summer months in the Russell's backyard pool. Arlene loved to breed and show her Persian cats.
Arlene is survived by her husband, John; her children: Ron (Bonnie) Russell, and Lisa (Josh) Sutherland; eight grandchildren: Heather Russell, Cassandra (Jeff) Gaishin, Corey (Jaymie) Russell, Ashley (Josh) Mann, Bryan (Jenny) Russell, Taylor Russell, Emily (Antonio) Tavolacci and Kate Sutherland; eight great-grandchildren; three siblings: Bernice Burbach, James "Babe" (Betty) Hahn, Jerry (Rachael) Hahn; sister-in-law, Jeanne Hahn; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Arlene was preceded in death by three sons: John, Dave and William "Scotty" Russell; her parents; and siblings: Robert (Dorothy) Hahn, Richard (June) Hahn and Chester Hahn.
