Benny Boatwright Obituary

Benny Boatwright, 88, of Sarasota, died Oct. 24, 2009.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church of Osprey, Sarasota.
Burial will be in Sarasota Memorial Park Cemetery, Sarasota, with the veterans honor guard to render military honors at the cemetery.
Survivors include a son, Terry (Sally) Boatwright of Denton, Texas; a daughter, Paulette (Robert) Arnold of Osprey; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Benny retired from GTE as a cable splicer after 30 years of faithful service. He was a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post 2824, Arcadia. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force, serving in World War II. He served with the Sarasota Sheriff's Auxiliary when he was a young man. Benny especially enjoyed spending quality time with his children and grandchildren.
Benny was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Alma, in 2008. Benny and Alma had celebrated 62 years of marriage.

I met Mr. Benny back in 80s, I'll never forget the first time Mr. Benny took me to the field to pre-field a job for a cut. He had the patience of a saint. By the end of the day, I really did know the different between a GTE copper drop wire and cable TV. Thank you. Rest in peace my friend....you will truly missed.....

We send our deepest sympathies to Benny's family. He will be missed deeply. I worked with Benny for 23 years and he was a fine man and wonderful friend. I will miss his voice and phone calls.

We will definitely miss Benny. He lit up the office when he came in, and the treats he brought.... It was fun hearing his stories. It is comforting to know that he is with Alma, praising God in heaven together once again. God bless you and your family and may He be with you all as you learn to live your lives without him.
