David J. O'Brien, 39, of North Port, FL passed away August 26, 2014. David was born February 26, 1975 in Sarasota to Linda (MacPherson) Farrell and James E. O'Brien. He graduated from Venice High School and proudly served in the U.S. Army in the 4th Infantry Division. He was an avid collector of militaria. David enjoyed books, video games, movies and spending time with his nephews. Survivors include his mother, Linda Farrell; twin brother, Michael O'Brien; sister, Cheryl Purcell; nephews: Christopher Purcell and Sean O'Brien; and his father, James. A Memorial Gathering will be held from 7-8 PM, Wednesday, September 3 at Farley Funeral Home, Venice Chapel. To share a memory visit www.farleyfuneralhome.com

David was an amazing man. I will never forget the times we had in R.O.T.C when we were younger. He is already missed dearly.
