Elizabeth Alexander Obituary

Elizabeth Cherry Alexander

May 6, 1985 - June 27, 2024

Elizabeth C. Alexander, 39, of Raleigh, NC, passed away on June 27, 2024, surrounded by her family, after a courageous 20 month battle against stage four colon cancer. She is now in the care of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Elizabeth was born on May 6, 1985, to Burford and Patricia Cherry in Statesville, NC. Growing up, Elizabeth was a talented singer, musician, volleyball player, and loving older sister to Katherine. Faith was the center of her life starting at a young age, which began through her active involvement in First Presbyterian's youth program. After graduating from Hickory High School in 2003, she went on to study early childhood education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Teaching Fellows scholarship.

She began her education career as a second grade teacher at Combs Elementary in Raleigh, NC. In 2007, Elizabeth met the love of her life, Graham Alexander, and began her next adventure. They got married in Hickory, NC, at her childhood church, on June 26, 2010. She and Graham are devout members of Christ the King Presbyterian Church in Raleigh. After teaching in the public school system for five years, Elizabeth went on to serve as the Children's Ministry Director at Christ the King. The light of their lives are their three precious children, Margaret (age 10), Joseph (age 8), and Caleb (age 4).

A Celebration of Life service was held on Monday, July 1, 2024, at 11 a.m., at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, 100 Peace St., Raleigh, NC. Deat Pat and Burford and Katherine,
My heart goes out to you during this very sad time in your lives. The obituary was a beautiful tribute to Elizabeth. I loved reading about her talents and accomplishments and what a giving person she was. I know there are no words to comfort you with this huge loss, and I am hoping your close friends and the minister at your church will provide the comfort you need. God is taking good care of Elizabeth and He will take care of you too. With love and sympathy, Ellen Correll
