Geneva Roberts HICKORY Geneva Radford Roberts, 84, passed away Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012 at Lutheran Home-West. Geneva was born Feb. 26, 1927 in Buncombe County, to the late Benjamin and Lola Rose Radford. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Roberts. She was a member of East Hickory Baptist Church and retired from Hickory Springs. Mom loved her Lord, family and church. She encouraged everyone to go to church. Even though she had long lost her ability to speak and remember due to Alzheimer's disease, she still often had a smile for those who cared for her and visited her. Surviving are her daughter, Clara Robbins and her husband, Richard of Hickory, and her son, Dave Roberts and his fiancee, Melissa Keller of Hickory; grandchildren, Donovan Roberts and his wife, Dana, Lorie Houston and her husband, Andy, Nathaniel Roberts and Todd Robbins and his wife, Kellie, all of Hickory; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Grace Beavers of Murphy; and life long friends, Eugene and Irene Luckadoo. Services will be held Saturday, Jan. 28, at 1 p.m. at East Hickory Baptist Church with the Rev. Tracy Mull (Sr. Pastor of East Hickory Baptist Church) and the Rev. Paul Childers officiating. Pallbearers will be Donovan Roberts, Andy Houston, Todd Robbins, Collin Houston, Nathaniel Roberts and Devin Roberts. Interment will follow in Catawba Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Saturday, from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at East Hickory Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to Lutheran Home, West, 1125 10th.
