Marcia Niswonger Johnson

February 20, 1936 - February 25, 2022

Marcia Niswonger Johnson, 86, of Charlotte, formerly of Hickory, passed away Friday, Feb. 25, 2022.

Born Feb. 20, 1936, in Dallas, Texas, she was the daughter of the late Roy Wheeler Niswonger and Marjorie Schminkey Niswonger, formerly of Hickory. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Andrew Finley Johnson.

Marcia was a member, and active in every aspect of First Presbyterian Church. After Sunday services, she delighted in serving her family lunch, which usually included the roast she had left simmering on the stove. She was all about her family, including any reason to gather together, attending her children and grandchildren's sporting events, all holidays and serving as a caregiver for any who needed her.

Marcia was truly full of grace. She rarely raised her voice. She was kind, tender-hearted, welcoming, always ready to volunteer and never complained. Her family adored and appreciated all that she was and all that she did. They all feel so blessed to have had her as theirs.

Survivors include her sons, Steve Johnson and wife, Kelly of Terrell, and Jimmy Johnson and wife, Julie of Charlotte; daughter, Andrea Johnson Ayscue and husband, Aaron of Charlotte; brother, Richard "Dick" Niswonger of Sherwood, Ore.; grandchildren, Erin Johnson, Abby Johnson Kiesler, Wheeler Johnson, Grayson Johnson, Benjamin Johnson, Anna Johnson, Cole Ayscue and Finley Ayscue; and great-granddaughter, Charlotte Rose Sebastian.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, March 4, at First Presbyterian Church, with the Pastor Heather Davis officiating. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall, following the service.
