Rex Ivan Phillips, 62, of Claremont, passed away Friday, July 22, 2022, at his residence.
He was born June 17, 1960, in Catawba County, to the late Glenn Ivan Phillips and to Shirley Almeda Isenhour Elliott of Conover. Rex was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed fishing, hunting, going to the beach, and spending time with his loved ones. He was preceded in death by his father, Glenn Ivan Phillips.
Those left to cherish his memory are wife of 1½ years, but best friend of 10 years, Jan Phillips of the home; mother, Shirley (Boots) Isenhour Elliott of Conover; sister, Glenda Jo Yount and husband, Doug of Claremont; niece, Tonya Pope and husband, Scott of Newton; special friends, Dean Lail and Russell Cazire; two great-nieces; and three great-nephews.
A special thank you to Rex and Jan's extended family for their support.
A memorial service to celebrate Rex's life will be held Saturday, July 30, at 11 a.m., at Bennett Funeral Service, 7878 NC Hwy. 16 in Newton. The Rev. Tim Shook will officiate. Inurnment will follow at Catawba Memorial Park in Hickory. The family will receive friends from 10 to 10:45 a.m., at Bennett Funeral Service, prior to the service.
