Wayne Bush Obituary

Wayne Bowen Bush
May 7, 1929 - May 23, 2018
The hard working farm boy from Malad, Idaho, has finished his work on earth and rejoined his beloved companion, Jeannine, as they continue their service beyond the veil. Wayne Bowen Bush, the third son of Warren L Bush and Mary Bowen was born May 7, 1929, in Malad and learned to work with his older brothers Warren and Milan on the dry farm. He was student body president, center on the football team and involved in band, yearbook and the school paper at Malad High. He met Jeannine Anderson at a dance in Malad before heading to Moscow to study engineering at the U of Idaho where he maintained weekly correspondence with his sweetheart, ending each letter with their song "How Soon"?
Married in the SLC Temple on August 16, 1949, they completed college and moved to Akron, Ohio, to work for Goodyear where their two eldest were born, Pamela and David. Wayne transferred to INEL with GE, living in Idaho Falls until 1960. Two sons, Kirk and Doug joined the family in Idaho before Wayne took a job with Martin Marietta helping with booster rockets for the Gemini and Apollo missions. Youngest daughter Maryanne joined the family shortly before spending a year in Florida at Cape Canaveral.
Shifting from aerospace to aluminum, Wayne was a senior engineer at The Dalles Martin Marietta plant and finished his career as a consultant for a firm in Portland. Dedicated to his family and scouting, he served faithfully as scoutmaster, president of the young men, bishop, stake president and eventually counselor in the mission presidency of the Columbus, Ohio mission from 1995-1996. Temple service in the Portland Temple followed until relocating to Logan, Utah, when Jeannine's health began to fail.
Wayne was dedicated to temple service to the end, as well as his calling as greeter in the Dry Canyon Ward. He is survived by his five children, Pam Auger (Logan, Utah), David/Cathy (Logan, Utah), Kirk/Debbie (Owego, New York), Douglas/Ann (Fairfax, Virginia), Maryanne/Glenn (Layton, Utah) 25 grandchildren and 58 great-grandchildren with two on the way and four great-great grandchildren. The family would like to thank good friends at the Senior Center and kind neighbors in Shadow Mountain who loved and served their father.
A brief memorial service will be held at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center in Logan, on Wednesday, May 30th at 10 AM followed by a graveside dedication at the Malad, Idaho Cemetery at noon. Condolences may be expressed online at www.allenmortuaries.net
