BARBARA ANN JONES, age 55, passed away on March 9, 2009. With family and friends at her side, Barbara passed on to a place without pain or fear, taking with her the love of too many people to count. She is survived by her husband, Pat Southard; parents Larry and Jean Jones, sister Lori Scott, brother David Jones, sister-in-law Becky Sargent, and numerous nieces and nephews. She will continue to live on in their hearts and minds; in time the tears will pass, leaving the joy of her memory in their place. Peace. Dear Barb, we miss you dearly and we will never forget you. I am so sorry you had to suffer so, and Pat and your family, too, but I suspect you must now be feeling the greatest peace ever known. I still feel your warm smile and quirky sense of humor even though I cannot see you, and that comforts me greatly. We are so lucky to have a part of you still with us through your paintings that grace our walls.

Dear Pat,
So sorry to hear of your loss. I didn't get to know Barb but it seems she was the sort of person that had no confusion about how to live fully and well. I know you will miss her terribly. Take care of yourself.

My heart goes out to Barb's dear family and friends who will miss her cheery smile and loving ways. Many creative acts will not get done and paintings made since she has died. She was such a strong fun-loving activist for peace, an inspiration to so many of us. I sent a contribution to the CodePink group going to Gaza for a basket of personal items to be given to a woman there in her honor. You are much loved and admired, dear Barb.

To Pat and to Barb's family and friends. I know you will find many small ways each day to celebrate Barb's life.

I only knew her a little but when we connected it was always old friends. She had a ready smile, a quick laugh and a quick wit to go with it.

Find peace, you who are left behind. Barb already has.

Barb...wow....what an amazing woman who inspired me to do more and be an even better person! If i can do for just one other person what she did for me, it will have been a life worth living. I am sad that our time was cut so short, but I am sure that she and tom are up there panting their hearts away with all the canvas, cars and more that we can only imagine. My most heart felt thought and prayers are with her family. My CodePink sister...you will be missed but your legacy will surely continue on.

I only met Barb a few times when I was at RMT and she would come in after the show with her dog to pick up Pat. She was very friendly and always remembered me. I also admired her art work and her outgoing personality. My thoughts and prayers are with Pat and the rest of Barb's family. Sincerely, Peggy

Barb was a truly generous, unselfish soul. Her steadfast stand as an everyday peace activist was inspiring. I hope she felt some of the love we all felt for her, because even when she seemed matter of fact about things, it was clear she deeply, deeply cared. That was just her gracious way of TCB.
Our hearts are with Pat, Becky, and her family.

A truly gracious lady. We're going to miss her.

Barb and I go way back... Our respective circumstances over time have been such that we were no longer in one another's First Circle. I didn't see her very often these past years. But when I did, there was no time, there was no distance. There was immediate warmth, camaraderie, storytelling, snark and laughter, acceptance, and... zizz.

My heart goes out to Pat, Becky and Barb's very caring family.

I hope Heaven has a good stock of blank canvas at the ready so Barb can paint her heart out.

Peace, lady. Godspeed.
