Eleanor Bonewitz Obituary

Bonewitz
Eleanor Froelich Bonewitz died June 11, 2011 at her home in Washington County. She was born to Eleanor and James Eugene Froelich in DeQuincy, Lousiana on August 1, 1925. A graduate of the University of Houston, she taught, first English, then art at Memorial High School in Houston for 31 years before retiring in 1994.
She was preceded in death by her husband Roland Frederick Bonewitz. She is survived by her son Roland F. "Derick" Bonewitz, Jr. and wife Adriana; daughter Eleanor Elizabeth Jones and husband Gregg W. Jones and their children Eleanor Merrick Jones Peterson and Christopher W. Jones; her daughter Anna Merrick Bonewitz; her son John Arthur Bonewitz and wife Lorene and their children Anna Merrick Bonewitz and John Roland Bonewitz; and by her brother James Eugene Froelich, Jr. and his wife Frances and their children.
A private memorial service will be held at a future date.

Mrs. Bonewitz was one of my favorite teachers at MHS. I learned so much from her creative spirit. I was just thinking about her last week, remembering her lovely smile and voice.
