Elwyn Owens Obituary

Elwyn 'Bud' Owens, 67, went home to be with the Lord on September 27, 2009.

He was born in Barberton, on February 28, 1942, to Milton Owens and Bessie Russell.

Bud was a devoted member of Grace Baptist Church for 40 years. He kept the church buses running, and with his son Robert, ran a church bus route. He enjoyed singing in the choir and also sang in a quartet. He worked for the Summit County Sheriffs Office as a deputy sheriff. Bud was a faithful member of the F.O.P. Lodge #139, and also a member of the Blue Knights International Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Christopher Bryan Owens and sister, Selva Deen Ball. He is survived by his wife, Jeanne of 50 years; sons, Robert (Rene), John (Kim), Kenneth (Chris Turner) and Keith (Tracy Miller); brother, Quillian Owens of Florida; sisters, Solena Bowers of New York and Sonia (Sam) Morris of Florida; grandchildren, Sondi (Travis) Lance, Robert (Tamara) Owens, Amanda (Aaron) Brant, Tiffany, Chad, Serena and Natasha Owens; great-grandchildren, Makaila, Kylie, Audrey, and Ethan.

'We little knew the morning that God was going to call your name. In life we loved you dearly; in death we do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone. For part of us went with you, the day God called you home. You left us peaceful memories, your love is still our guide, And though we cannot see you, you are always by our side. Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same, But as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.'

Friends and family may call at Bacher Funeral Home, 3250 Greenwich Rd., Norton, on Tuesday, September 29, 2009 from 4 to 8 p.m., with funeral services Wednesday beginning at 10 a.m., with Pastor Phil Hulgin officiating.

Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Grace Baptist Church, 704 N. Firestone Blvd., Akron, OH 44306 in memory of Bud. Oh, Jeanne, We were so sad to hear of Bud's passing. Such a good, gentle man with a wonderful smile. Phil shattered his leg in May and had his third and final surgery last week. Otherwise, we would have been at the calling hours. There is no time or distance between friends. We are always here for you. God bless you and the family. Much love & many prayers.

To the Owens family. It sadddens us so when we lose someone like Bud. I remember his stopping by on the motorcycle last summer and how we talked for so long of "days of old." We worked together @ Ohio Mechanical Handling down on S.Main Street. He was quite a man of God, so gentle and kind. Jim and I didn't see the notice until today, so sorry we couldn't come and speak to you in person. You will be in our thoughts and prayers.

I worked with Bud at the Summit County Sheriff's Dept. many years. Bud always seemed to be smiling and very little seemed to bother him. He was a great co-worker and an excellent friend. I'm sure he'll be missed by all that knew him.
My condolences to Jean & Bud's family.

It was rare to see Bud and Jean apart. They went everywhere together. Fifty wonderful years. I entered this family at the age of 16. They were like the parents I never had. They were always there for you when you needed them. What a wonderful set of grandparents! He will be deeply missed by everyone.

Remembering your family in prayer - God of life, I reach out to You on behalf of the Owens family for help in this time of need. On their own they are not able to walk through these days, and we need You to hold them up and renew in them Your strength. Breathe Your hope into their spirits, that they might believe that their heavy hearts will again run and rise up and fly on eagles’ wings. Let the light of Your healing love shine into the deep hurt and the dark places in their hearts. Lord, we pray that You will give them eyes to see beyond the clouds of earth into the glory of heaven, and the peace that comes from knowing that the one they love is there in Your arms. In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen

Isaiah 40:31 They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary and they shall walk, and not faint.

In deepest sympathy for your sorrow.
