Evon Aronowitz Obituary

Evon Aronowitz 86, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on April 26, 2014 in Houston, Texas. She was born in Houston on December 25, 1927 to Gussie and I.J. Levinson and was the 2nd grandchild in the large, loving Gerson Family. She was a graduate of San Jacinto High School and attended the University of Texas.
Evon was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her devoted husband, Marvin, with who she shared a beautiful marriage for 65 years; her children and their spouses, Jill and Barry Racusin, Mitzi and Mark Shidler, Alan and Janice Aronowitz; her grandchildren, Jeffrey and Stacey Shidler, Andrew Shidler, Michael and Diana Racusin, Philip Racusin, Ali Aronowitz, Samantha Aronowitz; great-grandchildren Daniel and Julia Shidler, Jacob Racusin; sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Jerry Sigman of Denver, CO; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Betty and Seymour Aronowitz; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Roslyn and Stanley Golden.
Evon enjoyed playing weekly mah jongg for over forty years with her dear friends. She and Marvin had a wonderful times and memories traveling all over the world with their close friends. She was a lifetime member of Hadassah. Evon was known for her creative flair in her home and her personal fashion. Above all, her love and devotion to her family was the focus of her life.
Evon will be greatly missed by all who knew her. The family wishes to thank her caregivers and Houston Hospice for their outstanding, compassionate care. Donations may be made to charity of choice.
Funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 28, 2014, 3:00PM at Emanu El Memorial Park Cemetery at 8341 Bissonnet in Houston.
