Francess Danquah Obituary

Francess Danquah
1958-2022
Dr Francess Danquah, PhD, ANP-C, GNP-BC was born on July 19th 1958 in Freetown, Sierra Leone to Francis Sowah and Elizabeth Smith.
She is survived by her mother Elizabeth, only child Hazel; her grandson Danny, siblings (Monica, Josephus, Cecelia, Patricia, Donald and Louisa), numerous friends and the Smith and Sowah families in Sierra Leone and abroad.
Francess attended the St Anthony Girl School and the St Joseph Secondary School in Freetown, Sierra Leone. She joined the Sierra Leone Military Forces at age 19 and was among the first female combatant officers in the country's armed forces.
She received the award for the Best Academic Student at the Ghana Military Academy and was featured in that country's newspaper for that award.
Francess served her country well and came to the US on a study leave to pursue further education in accounting.
During the civil war in Sierra Leone and the army takeover, she and other colleagues who were abroad were retired from the force. Her last rank was a major.
Francess graduated from Texas Woman's University with honors with a BSN in Nursing. Her love for the elderly and indigents encouraged her to pursue her MSN as an Adult and Gerontological nurse practitioner at the University of Texas at Medical Center in Houston. She later obtained her PhD in
Nursing at the same university where she taught for a while. Her love for bedside nursing moved her to work with skilled nursing, nursing home patients and patients at home and her service to the elderly and indigents was the highlight of her life. Presently she is working for Contemporary Medicine Associates seeing patients in Mental Health Facilities and enjoyed her job very well. Her love for people was the main driver of her hard work.
Francess is very grateful to God for the life she has lived because coming from a very poor and humble family, she experienced a life that was far beyond what she had dreamt of.
A funeral service will be held at Forest Park Westheimer, 12800 Westheimer Rd., Houston, Tx 77077, at 2:00 pm. Fond memories and condolences can be left for the family at www.forestparkwestheimer.com.

Francess, my dear friend , I cannot believe that you are no longer with us. I thank God for bringing us together. I thank God also for your life. You were a loving and kind person.
They say that the quality of a person´s life doesn't depend on the number of years they lived but the quality of life lived. Well my friend, you made sure of that. What you achieved in life , your academic achievements in particular does call for a round of applause . Francess, death is only temporal, that is why I know that you are not dead but only sleeping in the arms of our Lord. Sleep on dear friend, sleep on and take your rest. May light perpetual continue to shine on you beautiful one. Continue to rest in peace.
Deepest condolences to Hazel, Danny, the rest of the Smith & Sowah family as well as hernumerous friends & church members. God will comfort you all.
