James Lee Obituary

James Elmer Lee was born in Marsailles, OH on September 14, 1920 to George E. and Alice M. (Hughes) Lee. At the age of 91, he passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2012 in Houston, TX.
James retired after a long career in the newspaper industry. He was employed with the Detroit Times, the Detroit Free Press, the Houston Chronicle in downtown Houston and retiring with the Houston Chronicle Hempstead, TX office. James was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Tom and Jane, his first wife, Gladys M. (Reid) Lee in 1976, his second wife, Loretta M. (Paquette) Lee in 1993, and by a son and daughter-in-law, George D. and Loretta Lee.
James is survived by children, James A. Lee and wife Debbie of The Woodlands, TX, Robert M. Lee and wife Doreen of Katy, TX, Michael R. Lee and wife Kay of Houston, Daniel R. Lee and wife Sharon of Granbury, TX, Shirley Ann Robare and husband Mark of Cypress, TX and Susan M. Nelson and husband Greg of Traverse City, MI.
Also surviving James are: sister, Alice Harlan and husband Roger, step children, Jere A. Spencer of Pensacola Beach, FL, Victoria L. Clifford of Fresno, CA, Tami A. Meaige of Nashport, OH, Michael A. Spencer of Gagetown, MI, Mark E. Spencer of Windermere, FL, Margo M. Durrenberger of Houston; many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other relatives.
Family and friends will gather for a visitation on Friday, February 10th from noon until 7:00 p.m. at Waltrip Funeral Directors, where funeral services will be conducted in the chapel by Pastor Robert Hogan on Saturday, February 11th at 3:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston.
For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made in James' name to Boys Town, or a charity of your choice.
