Kathryn Freeman Steigerwald, 78, of Houston, died Monday May 16, 2022. She was born on April 12, 1944, in Chicago, Illinois, to Marie Jarl and Bromley Freeman.
Kathryn is survived by her daughters, Alyson Michael and her husband, Mike; Kate Steigerwald; and Jennifer Steigerwald; and her grandchildren, George Michael III, Sarah Michael and Jacob Michael; sister, Priscilla Larson; and niece, Kristina Larson.
Katheryn is preceded in death by her parents.
Katheryn moved to Temple, Texas from Chicago and then on to Houston. She attended The Kinkaid School and from there received her teaching degree from the University of Houston. She retired from teaching to be a stay-at-home mom. She enjoyed volunteering at her daughters' schools, playing tennis and bridge. Later she received her license to sell real estate. She worked for Madeline O'Brien Realtor. She loved her career and spending time with her friends. After retiring from real estate, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She tried to never miss an event.
Memorial contributions may be made the Alzheimer's Association to assist her sister and others in their fight with Alzheimer's; 225 North Michigan Avenue, Floor 17, Chicago, Illinois 60601 or alz.org.
The burial of Ms. Steigerwald's cremated body will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 10, 2022, at the Freeman Family Estate in Glenwood Cemetery, 2525 Washington, Avenue, Houston. Her cremation arrangements were handled through Broussard's Crematorium, under the direction of Broussard's, 2000 McFaddin Avenue Beaumont.

Kathy was a dear friend for over 50 years. She was special and loved by her friends and family. She could tell a good story and make me laugh ...always.

Girls, I remember your mom from your days at St. Francis. She was always there for you. I enjoyed her witty sense of humor, and I loved her constant support of all of you...and you certainly kept her busy! I know you will miss her terribly. Much love to all..
