Candy is preceded in death by her parents and children, Ricky and Regina Smith. She is survived by former husband Lawrence "Butch" Smith, her brothers Ronald Hay, wife Choyce, Michael Hay, wife Annanelle, sister Cathy Hay, nieces and nephews, Pam Adamek, Randy Hay, Sherri Pierson, Daryl Hay and Damon Hay and Ollie Hammack longtime friend considered a sister by Candy and family and also survived by her beloved cats Jez and Lucy.
A celebration of Candy's life will be held on Wednesday January 13 at 11am at Chapelwood United Methodist Church, 11140 Greenbay, Houston, TX 77024 (713) 465-3467. I had only known Candy for a few years. We worked together in our retail part-time jobs. We clicked and became friends.
I was so amazed by her strength. She had been through much in this life. I admired her and loved her dearly. Selfishly, I did not want to lose her but I know she is with God and her precious children. Her soul is at peace. Isn't that what it's all about?

My deepest condolences to your family on the loss of a beautiful woman - a truly remarkable lady. Candy was a part our Baker Hughes family and was loved by "everyone". I had the pleasure of working with her for several years. I will never forget the kindness that she had for all people.

Dear Hay Family,

What a beautiful lady Candy was both inside and out! My husband and I only knew her for a short time. We met because of the sudden loss of her dear friend and our sister and sister-in-law, Ann Haisler in August of 2014. Ann had spoken highly of her many times and we were privileged to see first-hand what a beautiful person she was. Candy provided untold help, comfort and encouragement to us during that time. May the memories of your sister be wonderful treasures in your heart. It is our prayer that God will provide His hope, love, comfort, peace and strength to you during this time.

May we all find understanding as we think about the everlastingness of life and the richness that the human relationship Candy added to our life. - All that we have shared with our dear one, all that has been a part of our togetherness, can never be taken from us. We can release Candy into God's eternal life and love and know that all is well.

Candy was the type of person we all strive to be: kind, caring, thoughtful, considerate. She was my neighbor for many years. I will always think of her smiling, waving as she passed by in her car, or taking a walk through the neighborhood, stopping to pet all the dogs that loved her. She will be sorely missed. May God grant her peace.

Michael I am so sorry to learn of your sister's death. She reminded me of a bright light shining hope and joy. I admired her continued dedication to the Brenham School. The people living there enjoyed a better life due to her efforts. Again I am sorry for your loss.

Candy was my best friend for about 35 years. Where one of us was, the other could always be found. She was absolutely the "perfect" friend. I will miss everything about her and this place in my heart she will always hold. Rest in Peace my dear and beloved friend.
