Kwei-Lien Koo Obituary

Kwei-Lien (Jenny) Koo
03/22/1938 - 09/14/2025
Kwei-Lien "Jenny" Koo, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2025, at the age of 88, surrounded by her family at home. Born near Beijing, China, on March 22, 1938, to Pu Tang Chu and Yu Wei Xin, Jenny was the youngest of seven children. After moving to Taiwan in 1949, she grew up next door to the family of her future husband, Yung-Hsen Koo.
They married in October 1960 and built a rich life together with their three children living in Taiwan, Thailand, Canada, Washington D.C., Saudi Arabia, California, Boston, Korea, and Singapore. They settled in Houston in late 1977. Jenny earned her degree in Home Economics from Shih Chien University.
She was a talented seamstress, knitter, and painter, but was best known for her cooking-especially her handmade dumplings. She even gave cooking demonstrations at Bloomingdale's in New York City, long before cooking shows became popular. Beautiful, stylish, kind, and full of energy, she touched the lives of everyone she met.
She is survived by her husband, Yung-Hsen; daughters Emerald Greig (Alasdair) and Grace Koo; her grandchildren: Andrew Greig (Paige), Tara Greig, Cameron Joey Koo, Trinity and Eliot Frank. She was preceded in death by her son, Leader.
A memorial service will be held Friday, October 24, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, Houston, TX.
