To The Britton & Hewitt Families,
II Corinthians 5:8 tells us: "...To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord"
God's word does not return void of POWER! Please have comfort in knowing that this is true of your husband, father, son, grandson, nephew, uncle, co-worker and friend. Larzarus wore many hats and he meant so muuh to so many people. This guest book is evident of that.
But what he was to everyone he came in contact with was warm and friendly.
I thought long about what I wanted to say about Larzarus' character. Not many words are needed for a person like him because his life spoke well of his character, but what came to mind about Larzarus was that he was a constant....what I mean is...a constant like:
...a birthday card from your life insurance company...that's a constant..
...an unconditional kiss from your Grandma...that's a constant...
Larzarus was a constant in that he treated everyone the same - with the utmost respect, courtesy & kindness..
Let's all rejoice in the fact that we knew him for the time God allowed us to...I know it hurts...We love him dearly, but God loves him more so God brought him home to sit in the bosom of Jesus!
Be Encouraged! Remember when those moments come when you feel low and feel like crying--go ahead and do it...There is only one set of foosteps now...God is carrying you through this time of mourning.
Lazarus...I once asked you how old you were and you responded, "Roz, I've got kids older than me" I laughed so hard...so did your wife when I told her that story at the wake...She will be okay, Larzarus!I will always think of you even when it is not an Olympic year or Presidentail election year...Happy 8th Birthday (in advance)
Take your rest...Keep smilin' ;-D
...until we meet again...!!
Be Blessed and Be A Blessing!

Jackie, my heart goes out to you, your children and entire family at this time of sorrow. God plans our destiny and Larzarus is at a better place now and he is watching over us. I worked with him at Hewitt for 5 years and his good heart and smile every morning made my day. May the Lord rest his soul in peace. God Bless you all.

Larzarus - Hewitt just isn't the same without you. I felt safe and secure knowing you were the keeper of the Hewitt gates. I know I will see you in heaven. Perhaps you will be at the Pearly Gates, and you will tell me to come on through as you have told me so many times before. We were all shocked that you were taken at such a young age, but our Lord's timing is perfect. You have served your earthly purpose, and now you are enjoying your reward for a job well done. I will pray for comfort and healing for your family and for all who grieve your passing. Thank you for the memories, my friend and co-worker.

"And regarding the question, friends, that has come up about what happens to those already dead and buried, we don't want you in the dark any longer. First off, you must not carry on over them like people who have nothing to look forward to, as if the grave were the last word. Since Jesus died and broke loose from the grave, God will most certainly bring back to life those who died in Jesus." I. Thessalonians 4:13 - 14 (The Message version)
"We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord" 2 Corinthians 5:8
- An Angel in our midst -
I'm sure many will concur that upon receiving the news about Larzarus' passing, it was as if there were a dark cloud of sadness that hovered over Hewitt. It didn't matter that many of us did not know him for a long time, we were still shakened to the core.. It did not take much to see that Larzarus truly exemplified the "agape" Love of God through his character..
Upon arriving to Hewitt the 1st person I saw was Larzarus with a big smile and warm welcome - It didn't take long for me to see that he was definitely a "man of God" A man of character...
Jacqueline,
I want you to know that I've been praying for you, the kids, and the entire family - that God would keep you on perfect peace even when the questions do come.
I stand in agreement with many others in saying thank you for sharing your husband with all of us @ Hewitt..
Although I travel miles to get to work, it was surprising to know that Larzarus was raised up right around the corner from me.. It's a small world indeed.
Just to encourage you,
With all of the many wonderful things that are being said about Larzarus, this only goes to show you that you too are a very special person, the Woman of God who walked by his side...
May God continue to strengthen and bless you is my continued prayer...

Dear Jackie and family:
Larzarus was truly an angel among men. He touched the lives of alot of people and we all feel the sorrow of physically losing him. Even though he's not with us, we still have those memories of good times to hang on to. We are all blessed to have known such a gentleman and even more blessed that God allowed him to touch our lives. Stay strong and be of good courage. One touch from God can heal every drop of lonliness, pain, restlessness and any other discomfort that you may feel. Seek him first and everything else will fall in order.
God bless you!!!

Jackie and family,
I am so very sorry about your loss. I was also blessed to know Larzarus for 9 years.
It always astonished me that he knew my name from the very beginning even if I wasn't wearing my badge. Being greeted by name and with warmth as he did every day will always be embedded in my memory.
Jackie, even though he was a very private man when it came to his family, he always let it be known how much he loved you. You were, and always will be his #1.
I learned a great deal of important life lessons from him such as always being polite and speaking to people, and I plan to pass those lessons down to my own son.
Always remember, If God brings you to it, he'll get you through it.
Respectfully,

Larzarus was a wonderful person and such a blessing to know. He always greeted me with a smile and asked how I was doing. Not a day went by that he didn't make me smile. He even turned some of my bad days into good ones simply by being the person that he was. He will be missed by all who knew him. My prayers are with you.

I once wore these same shoes and though I don't wish anyone to experience this pain, know that with the loving hands of GOD, you will be guided down a path of healing and understanding. Some days will be better than others - but just be reminded of the smile that PIG brought to all of those that crossed his path. YOU GUYS ARE TRULY LOVED!!!!

Dear Jackie and children: Larzarus was a true gentleman in every sense of the word. Words cannot express how much I will miss seeing his face every day that I go to work. He and I used to cut up and laugh all the time and just seeing him put a smile on my face every time. I am so grateful that I got to spend the last 8 years of his life with him at Hewitt. To say that he will be sorely missed is an understatement...he was Hewitt; an icon and work will never be the same without him.
Please accept my condolences on your loss and know that when it is our time to go, Larzarus will probably be at the Pearly Gates with St. Peter with a smile on his face to greet us.
Respectfully,

Jackie, Children and Family,
The overwhelming emotions and sense of a great loss and emptiness you are experiencing right now must feel so unbearable. I pray that God will guide each one of you and give you strength and peace.
Find comfort in knowing the genuine goodness and kindness that overflowed from Larzarus to so many. Larzarus was a man of great character and heaven's Angel on Earth because he practiced The Golden Rule daily. He made sure that he delivered one big smile a day to you in case that was the only one you got that day.
I will truly miss Larzarus because he knew what made a person feel special and he always took the time to say hello at the first opportunity instead of putting it off until later.
May the stars of heaven shine down on us and the one with the brightest twinkle is our dear one, Larzarus.
God bless you and keep you until we meet again my friend.

To the Brittons,
How amazing it is to see the outpouring of love and affection so many people have for Larzarus. Thank you so much for sharing him with us, his smile lit up our entire building and was something you looked forward to seeing everyday. Although we are sad for ourselves and our loss, we are also happy that Larzarus is now at home with God. I firmly believe God put Larzarus in our lives to teach us how He wants us to treat each other and if we effect half the people he did in his time on Earth we will have lived a pretty amazing life. Let us all carry on Larzarus' memory by remembering to do the little things for each other that made us love the man so much.

The blow was great, the shock
severe,
We little thought the end
was near.
And only those who have lost
can tell
The pain of parting without
farewell.
It broke our hearts to lose you,
But you did not go alone.
A part of us went with you,
The day God called you home.
Nothing can ever take away,
The love a heart holds dear.
Fond memories linger every day,
Remembrance keeps him near.

Your gentle face and patient smile
With sadness we recall
You had a kindly word for each
And died beloved by all
The voice is mute and stilled the heart
That loved us well and true,
Ah, bitter was the trial to part
From one so good as you.
You are not forgotten loved one
Nor will you ever be
As long as life and memory last
We will remember thee.
We miss you now, our hearts are sore,
As time goes by we miss you more,
Your loving smile, your gentle face,
No one can fill your vacant place.

The Britton Family,
Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the softly falling snow.
I am the gentle showers of rain.
I am the fields of ripening grain.
I am in the morning hush.
I am in the graceful rush
of beautiful birds in circling flight.
I am the star shine of the night.
May you continue to be uplifted through your time of bereavement.
Be encouraged!

I can't find the words to express my heart-felt sympathy, and there are far too many happy memories to list. (There is a big grin on his face right now at the thought of ME without words...) He touched so many lives and so many hearts. He will forever have a special place in mine until we meet again one day.

Larzarus will be greatly missed but the memories will be greatly cherished... knowing mine (well really everyone's at Hewitts) name made me feel like I was walking into a family every morning, which helped since I had to just leave mine to start a busy work day. Even his not so "Stern" looks when I set off the buzzer about 3-4xs a week will be missed... even though finally he caught on and just started buzzing my uncoordinated self in... which of course he did with a smile!!
Kids I know how hard it is to lose a father, but even 25 yrs later I can still easily recall the best memories of my father which I cherish and you will be able to also... My thoughts and prayers are with you and your mother.
Sincerely Lisa Chandler

Words seem inadequate to express the sadness we feel about Larzarus's death. Larzarus was a great man! He was very kindhearted and I don't believe I ever saw him without a smile on his face. Although it's difficult today to see beyond the sorrow,
May looking back in memory help comfort you tomorrow. He was truly a great person and will be cherished by several. I am honored to have known your husband and father for he was truly one of the worlds greatest Men! I pray that God is with you and your family in your difficult time. If you need anything feel free to email me.
If tears could build a stairway,
And memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to Heaven
And bring him home again.

To the family of Lazarus I would really like to express my deepest condolences. It's funny how God can bring different ones along your path in life. Lazarus and I lived practically our entire childhood lives in the same neighborhood and went to the same high school and after all these years God brought us to work for the same company. I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.
My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.
They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.
Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.
But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.
Larzarus you will truley be missed by many. But you will always hold a special place in everyones heart.I will see you in heaven someday. Love you

To The Britton Family,
It is with heartfelt emotions I say you all were blessed with a great treasure/family member for a short time.
Larzarus was my friend, high school classmate and co-worker.
We knew each other for more than 20 years.
He was like a brother to me.
His face was the first face I would see in the morning at the security desk for my 9 years with the firm.
We would chit chat daily.
He loved his family, wife and kids and he was crazy about his dad, his dad was his role model.
To the family I say " Be encouraged", Remember GOD doesn't make mistakes! Seek the Lord Jesus for peace and strength!

Be Still
Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.
Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.
If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.

Jackie,
No words can express how you are feeling right now, just know that you are not alone. You have people around you that love and will support you. Take it from me - I've been there - lean on us for support and comfort. With time, you will make it through.

Lazarus started every work day for me and many others at Hewitt with a cheerful personal greeting and a happy smile. I don't know how he knew everyone's name, but it always made me feel special when he used mine. His passing leaves a huge hole in my heart and in my life. He was a very special person and will be missed terribly. My sincere condolences to you, his family remaining.
