In addition to her husband, Thomas Rupert McFarland, she is survived by her son, Tommy, Jr.; granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth McFarland, and great grandson, Austin Gatewood. Lillian, affectionately called Lilly by family and friends, was born in Hammond, Louisiana in 1916 to the late Bailey and Jennie Alford. She was one of six daughters and two sons, all of whom predeceased her.
Lillian received her Registered Nurse Certification from Charity Hospital in Shreveport, Louisiana. While there, she met and married Tommy in 1937. After the war, Tommy and Lillian moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma and then to Houston in 1954. They moved to Kingwood in 1976 shortly before her retirement from Austin Steel, where she worked for many years as an industrial nurse. She was a member of the DAR and one of the founding members of Kingwood First Baptist Church.
The family wishes to express special thanks to Lillian's many Kingwood and Houston friends for their support. Also, thanks to Professional Health Care Hospice and the nursing staff at The Terrace for their thoughtful and loving care.
