1943-2019
Martha J. Carr, 75 of Houston passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2019 at St. Luke's Medical Center. She was born in Lafayette, Louisiana and raised in Beaumont, Texas where she graduated with the Charlton-Pollard Class of 1961. She worked as a telephone operator at Southwestern Bell and at The Museum of Fine Arts. Left to cherish her memory is her son, Daniel V. Woodson of Houston, Sisters Monnette Evans of Beaumont and Sheila Carr-Spotsville (Michael) and Brother David Guillory (Jennifer) and a host of relatives and friends. There will be a visitation at 11:00 am and the homegoing service at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church, 3826 Wheeler Avenue in Houston.

My prayers goes out to the family. I am glad that Martha and my paths connected. I met Martha at Tom Bass senior center a few years ago. Her smile and cheerfulness was amazing. She will me truly missed. R.I.P. My friend Martha.

Martha and I were friends for a short time but the time we shared together felt like a lifetime of friendship. We met at Tom Bass park on a bus trip to Galveston TX. We talk the whole time and discovered we born the same month and year. Afterwards we started hanging out together. I loved her like a sister and will always remember the good times we shared. I will miss her so much.RIP my friend.

My words to Daniel and Family: Martha was an inspiration to me. I met her in 1978 when I was 22 years old at Southwest Bell. She taught me how to embrace our culture. She poured wisdom into me. She loved Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church and adored her family. I know Martha will be missed . Martha has transitioned as beautiful smile and hearty laugh will preameate the Heavens!
