Robert D. Van Valin

ROBERT D. VAN VALIN, age 85, passed away on August 15, 2009 at his home in Atlanta, Georgia. He was born in San Diego, California on February 22, 1924 to Frank and Elizabeth Van Valin. He graduated from San Diego High School and Georgia Tech where he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. Robert was a veteran of World War II where he served in the U.S. Navy as a submarine officer. He also served in the Korean War as a commanding officer in an Underwater Demolition Team (now known as the Navy SEALS). Robert lived in Texas for over 50 years where he had his own business, Van Valin and Associates, for over 35 years. He was pre-deceased in death by his son Peter Curtis Van Valin. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Barge Van Valin; his son, Robert, Jr.; his two daughters, Elizabeth Stewart and Drusilla Davies; six grandchildren and one great grandchild. Memorial services will be held at St. John the Divine chapel in Houston, Texas on September 4th at 10 a.m. with burial services at Oakwood Cemetery in Waco, Texas on September 5th at 10 a.m. All friends are invited to attend.
