Well, we always just explained to people that we had literally played together in the playpen. You were always there when we were kids. Although we took different paths in young adulthood, the Lord always managed to bring us together when I needed you the most.
I am honored to have felt that you were with me during my wedding last month, and am positive that you will remain ever present in my heart, mind, and life. You truly were one of those special people whose presence brightened other peoples lives. My heart is with Shirley, Tera, Chase, and the rest of the family. We will all miss you.

where do i begin? what can i say, but les and i shared a world that only he and i knew...the times of the trailer, blinn, blinn marching band, college tour, the night we missed the bus on tour, the blue hooptie to Schwartz Hall...wait, now in College Station, "Betsy" (his car), the Hilton, the little company he and I started, Clicks, JD Wells, dance routines, 007, golf, Mhaikhan, the slippers, the parties, just everything...Les, I know you left but I know I will be seeing you again...To my best friend and brother who I never had, I love you. Don't worry Mrs Woodard (Mom) you still have me. I love you.

I had the opportunity to know Les only during the past year as I provided administrative support to his group at work. I will remember his smiles and friendly attitude and pray for the understanding and comfort he knew his family would need. My heart goes out to all of you.

What a blessing and privilege to have known Les. He left an imprint on the lives of so many. He was never short on smiles, laughter or time for a friend.
The abundance of fond memories that so many people have speaks volumes to his heart, character and the countless ways he has touched others. Les has left a legacy that personally challenges me to want to live a life that is worthy of such rememberance.
Les, I look forward to the day when I can dance down the Streets of Gold with you, my brother in Christ!

I enjoyed the services today - brought back fond memories of playing on drumline with him in highschool. It was good to see him again at Bob Stilwell's wedding this past Spring. Sure enough he still had that touch to make everyone smile - even during tense rainy moments before the wedding ceremony. I'll always remember his ability to shine when others were down or to make anyone feel welcome through laughter. My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Les.

Les was another one of my kids. Since Tom, Jim and Bob were close in age, friends of one was a friend to all. One thing I will always remember about Les, besides his effervescent smile, and his ability to make others laugh, was his ability to dance. The first time I ever saw the Moon Walk was when Les proceeded to knock our socks off in my kitchen with his version of the Moon Walk. Les was LOOSE!
I can't tell you the countless hours Les and who knows how many others spent in our hot tub and pool discussing life in general and girls in specific. Or watching movies in our den, or having a popcorn fight and then vacuuming up the debris up at 2 in the morning.
I just saw Les--dressed to the nines at Bob's wedding this spring. Same Les--never changed. You could see him coming a mile away--tall, handsome, and with a toothy smile that would make you smile too. He brightened the day of everyone around him. And if the smile did not get you, then his rap would! He could rap about anything or anyone at any time!
He will be missed! Tremendously! My heart goes out to Shirley, Tara, and Chase.

I was shocked to learn of Les Woodard's death over the weekend. I got to know Les when I started working at my very first Job, which was Chick-Fa-Le in Memorial City Mall.
Since those days of working with Les, I never really interacted with him anymore until about 2 years ago. We started to run into eachother at different nightlife hot spots around Houston.
Seeing Les in a crowd of socialites, I knew I had recognized that familiar face. Especially his smile which stretched from ear to ear. We caught up on a lot in our conversations since the chicken days. Sadly, we won't be able to stregthen that re-unified friendship.
Like a few of my friends who have already passed this world, Les will forever be in my prayers. I pray that God will watch over Les' son and keep strong his Mother and Family. One day we will all be reunited.
God's Blessings to you Les and know that you are forever in my heart and prayers. While I won't anticipate a tap on my shoulder from you the next time I am out with freinds, I will be thinking about you the next time I'm on the dance floor.
Drinks are on me, when I get up there.

I write these words for his family--the ones which have to survive this-and survive it for the rest of their lives. I have known Les and his family for almost 25 years and my childhood does not have an image without him. My sister and I grew up with him and I must say EVERY moment was fun--just what a chilhood should consist of--and then, through the years, our bond through adolescence was steadfast, and in adulthood ever-present.
My thoughts and prayers will be with Shirley and Tera for some time to come.

I'm sure when Les said good-bye to this world, our loved ones on the "other side" were eagerly cheering him Home. (Heb.12:1) Our family has been fractured by his loss, his wonderful smile and fun loving ways. May our Father be with you, Shirley, and all of your loved ones as you face tomorrow. We are a strong family, rooted and grounded in the true living God and because of Him, LES LIVES! He was an asset to our family.
God Bless You, La Fonda Hall

I never got to meet Les, but having worked with Shirley ( his mom ) for the last three years I feel that I know him and what a wonderful person he was.!! Shirley was always telling us stories about Les and you could tell the deep love she had for her children and all of her family. Shirley is truely a wonderful person and I am sure Les was equally full of Life and a true friend to everyone who knew him. We are all sad about the news and wish only the best for Shirley and all the family. May God grant Les Peace and Forgiveness. Your friends and coworkers at Goodman Mfg.

Les was one of the good people at Compaq and will never be forgotten. He made the Affinity Execution Team enjoyable to be a part of. I was an honor to be named as part of his "Dream Team". His leadership and great sense of humor will be missed.

As unbelievable as this whole thing is, I'll always remember how Les was able to liven a room with his smiles, humor, and his quick wit. I remember that they didn't want us to sit near each other anymore because of the continuous distractions in our weekly meetings! You are, and will continue to be, sorely missed.

It was just over a week ago me and Les and some buddies were just kicking it having a good time at my Halloween party. Les didnt have to struggle to make us laugh that night, he was in top form like always. I am glad I got to see Les in his last days, or else I would have never seen how good of a person he was. I believe we are all better people for knowing Les. May your smile light up heaven as it did down here.

So hard to believe, as I sit here and begin to realize that Les is not here. My heart aches for Shirley, Tara, Chase, and all of those that have have known Les.
Les was a great friend. I first remember him with Jennifer and Julie Tyree playing football at their apartment complex(5th grade). From there it was percussion class at Spring Oaks Jr. High, Yes, I remember that bass drum hit very well! He was a blast to work with in the drumline at SWHS and I have too memories to write. Yet, I can still see him with Christian Carroll rapping out rhymes about each drumline member.
Les had a gift for befriending those that needed befriending and lifting up all those around him. Lets pass that on for him.

I met Les on his first day at Compaq. He was hired into my group and I knew then that this guy had all the charm and character that people loved to be around. He always had a way of making people feel good.
He certainly has made a lot of friends, and he has introduced me to a lot of new friends.
Les is truly one of a kind and will be sorely missed by all...

I'll never forget the day I met Les... Junior High. We had a night band practice in preparation for an upcoming concert. We had been rehearsing one particular segment of a song that had a percussion solo on the huge Bass Drum (The one that is like 6ft wide suspended by springs). It was Les' solo on the bass drum. Mrs. Caston (band director) stopped us and started us about 10 times, instructing Les to HIT THE DRUM. So finally, on the last run through, Les wound up and hit that sucker like a ball out of the park - the drum boomed like never before and the entire room went silent, followed by laughter and cheers - "Finally!" exclaimed Mrs. Caston. One look at Les and his patented huge grin and I knew right then, I had a new friend for life.
Such was our relationship - always with vigor, fun, and laughter. Known for his jokes and fun loving spirit, his competitive side excelling at sports and work, and outgoing personality like no other. Les was a good friend that will be sorely missed.
To recap some of the high points that will mean more to some of you than others (somewhat chronological) - Band, Drum Core, Blue Beast, Cross Country, 40 oz, Blinn, A&M, Denim & Diamonds, Undercover Productions, The Tap, My 21st, Spring Break at The Riverhouse, The Hilton, Chase, Compaq, Jazz Fest, Guacamole!, Ski Trips, Pink Possum, Guys Night, and so many more it would take forever to list. So many good memories to cherish and remember Les' life. I will miss him.

Les could always make me smile. Even from the beginning when we met in summer band camp when we were in junior high school, I could tell that he and I were going to get along famously. Even in high school we remained close. We were drummers at rival high schools, but still friends. He even hired me at my first job at Chick-fil-A. I was so excited when I found out he worked at Compaq after I got there. It is never easy to say goodbye to a friend that has touched your life in a special way, but I can still carry a smile when thinking of him.
I miss you Les...

Les is one of our dearest friends and although we have lost his companionship through his passing he will be in our hearts forever. Les was the kind of friend who could call you out of the blue wishing you a Happy Anniversary that you had probably almost forgotten, or call to wish you a Happy Birthday before anyone else. He always had a way to make you feel special and he loved everyone in his life with deep emotion. We think all who know Les will remember his trademark smile, laugh and hugs. Les we will miss you until we see you again.
