Sandra Dompier Obituary

Sandra Ann "Mimi" Dompier
1940-2017
Sandra Ann "Mimi" Dompier, born on the 8th day of January, 1940 in Houston Texas, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, the 25th of April, 2017.
Mimi was preceded in death by her father, R.E., "Bob" Smith and her mother, Vivian Smith, her oldest daughter, Sandra Ann Austin, and her sister, Bobby Sue Cohn. The family she loved will cherish her memory forever and they are her husband of 37 years, Thomas Dompier, daughter, Susan Hunt and her children, Katherine and Mason Hunt, III, daughter, Stacey Schultea, and her husband, Joey, children, Cody and Shelby, daughter Shelly Mulanax, and her husband, Jerome, children Allie, Abbie and Cameron. Nieces, Kirby Cohn McCool, Lindsay Cohn Holstead and Courtney Cohn Hopson.
One final gift Mimi graciously allowed her family and friends, was the opportunity to visit with her, hold her hand, and tell her how much she was loved by so many. During this time she told each visitor, one by one, how much she loved them, with many touching moments to be remembered.
Mimi was a graduate of St. John's School and Greenbrier Academy, West Virginia, a Houston ICON and Philanthropist, following in the footsteps of her beloved parents, Robert Everett (R.E. "Bob") Smith and Vivian Leatherberry Smith. The love they had for the City of Houston, was instilled in Mimi and she spent her Seventy-Seven years giving back to the city she loved.
She has touched so many lives through her efforts with various charities and had a fierce love for all things with a positive impact on children's lives and education. Her many endeavors will serve our community for many years to come.
Throughout her lifetime, she has frequently been honored and served on many Boards contributing countless hours and resources. You seldom saw her name because she preferred not to be seen or heard, but to contribute quietly. This earned her a great deal of respect from all who had the privilege to be in her company.
You know Mimi disliked long obituaries, so this is it!
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o'clock in the afternoon until eight o'clock in the evening on Monday, the 1st of May 2017, in the parlor and grand foyer of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.
A celebration of Mimi's life will be held at eleven o'clock in the morning on Tuesday, the 2nd of May 2017, in the sanctuary of St. Luke's Methodist Church, 3471 Westheimer Road in Houston, where Rev. Bill Denham, Pastor of Caring Ministries is to officiate.
Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception to be held in the Fellowship Hall.
Prior to the Celebration of Life, the family will have gathered for a private interment at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Anne and Chris Richardson, Ruby and Jim Bloodworth, Sharon and George Buschardt, Joe and Jennifer Van Matre', Dr. David Mouton, Paul Somerville, Sissy Boyd, Nina and Jack Lyons, Mason Hunt, Jimmy Clapp III, Steve Stevens, Paula Robinson, Joe Lucia, Jr., Renee Clapp, Ronnie Schattle, Elizabeth Becker, Gary Davis and Mitch Williams

Tom, Shelly, Stacy, Susan & family,

My heart, thoughts & Prayers are with all of you now and as you move ahead with the loss of Mimi. I just found out yesterday as I don't get a paper anymore. I am so very sorry I didn't get to see her prior to her passing and missed the service/ celebration of her life. I have so many great memories of Aunt Mimi growing up especially childhood and other. Mimi was truly larger than life, authentic, fun, down to earth and always most comfortable in jeans and barefoot! I loved that about her-comfortable in her skin! I always felt a strong connection with her and she will be dearly missed by many. My heart breaks for all of you with her loss. Please know Mimi and all of you in my prayers!
She will be very missed. There is truly a new bright Texas star in heaven!

Tom, I've been trying to get in touch with you or the girls. The one thing I loved about Mimi is that she was ALWAYS the same -- just plain Mimi. She gave me the name "Cookie Mommy" back when we had the Girl Scout troup in Tanglewood. The girls used to knock on our window at Memorial Point on Lake Livingston What fun we had. Love you all...Karenbeth Jackson

I loved Mimi so much.... I had the pleasure of knowing and caring for Mimi for 3yrs. She never knew how much she has taught me, I can remember many night Mimi and I would just talk about life and the things to get life together. Mimi always said I was to quite and I didn't talk much but little did she know I was taking notes for my life. Mimi was a GREAT Lady and I will truly miss her. Love, Brandi V Simmons
