Thomas Lawler Obituary

A Memorial Service for THOMAS WILLIAM (Bill) LAWLER, 64 of Conroe will be held Saturday April 13, 2002 at 2:00 PM in Metcalf Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ed Albracht officiating. Cremation will follow under the direction of Metcalf Funeral Directors. Bill was born November 16, 1937 in Orange, Texas to T.W. & Edna Lawler and passed away April 9, 2002 in Conroe. Bill was a longtime professor at Sam Houston State University in Marketing & Management of the Department of Business School. For the past twelve years Bill was a professor and Coordinator of Business courses for Tomball College in Tomball, Texas. Bill was an avid fisherman with the Huntsville Bass Masters Club and an avid sports fan that could be found with his friends at any sporting event. Bill leaves behind his loving family:Wife: Barbara Lawler of Conroe, Tx. Son: Trae Lawler and wife Angie of Huntsville, Tx. Daughter: Leanne Lawler of Tomball, Tx.Step-Son: Willard Grogan of Kearney, Missouri, Step-Daughter: Gieselle Grogan Collier of Conroe, Brother: Bob Lawler and wife Linda of Orange, Tx. Grandsons: Chris & Josh Collier, Tommy & Nathan Lawler, Justin & Kyle Grogan,Nieces: Kelley Small and Sherri Jane Lawler. Nephew: Corey Ferguson Honorary Pallbearers: Robert Earl Autrey, Cliff Bradford, Tommy Childers, Tim Cooper, Larry Corley, Jerry Hollis and Gary Roark.The family will receive friends on Friday evening April 12th, from 5-7 PM in Metcalf Funeral Home.

I was informed of professor Lawlers death by a co-worker and former Bearkat today at work. I am an '82 grad and enjoyed professor Lawler as an instructer and fellow fisherman. My condolences to his family and friends and fellow bearkats he will truly be missed.
