VELMA KOEHN WATKINS

VELMA KOEHN WATKINS, 87 of Pearland, passed away on July 3, 2010. Velma was born May 31, 1923 in Grady County, OK; the youngest child of Peter Jacob and Frannie (Schmidt) Koehn. Velma met Llewellyn, her husband of 60 years in Chickasha, OK where he was recovering from surgery after his U.S. Army discharge. They married on July 26, 1946, and lived in Houston until moving to Pearland in 1963. Velma provided our family a happy, comfortable, and loving home, spoiling us daily with unforgettable homemade meals and desserts. She lived in Pearland for over 45 years and was a member of First United Methodist Church there.Velma is predeceased by her husband Llewellyn Calvert Watkins; parents, Peter Jacob and Frannie (Schmidt) Koehn; four sisters, Cora and Anna Mae Koehn, Elda Schmidt and Evelyn Lucas; and two brothers, Walter and Marvin Koehn. Survivors include one son, Kevin Calvert Watkins of Spokane, WA.; one daughter, Brenda Watkins Taylor and her husband Bobby Max Taylor, Sr. of Houston, two beloved grandsons: Bobby Max Taylor, Jr. and Michael Alfred Taylor, six great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and in-laws.Visitation is 5-8 pm, Friday, July 9, 2010 with funeral services at 9:00 am Saturday, July 10, 2010 at The Chapel of Angels in Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
