Vinette Johnson Obituary

Johnson
Vinette A. Johnson
Beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend Vinette Alma Johnson passed away on May 14, 2011.
Born in Galveston, Texas, on September 25, 1926, she was preceded in death by her parents, Vincent and Alma Uher, and her husband of over 50 years, L.M. "Verne" Johnson. She was a graduate of the University of Texas and the University of Houston, having attained a Masters degree. She was a teacher in the Pasadena school system, and later administered and evaluated psychological tests for the district as a diagnostician. After retiring from the PISD, she and Verne enjoyed many happy years in Rockport where she enjoyed spending time with her sons, grandchildren and any stray animal who showed up at her doorstep. Vinette volunteered with the Good Samaritans and as a docent at the Fulton Mansion, until the stairs became too difficult for her to manage.
She is survived by her brother, V.W. Uher Jr. (Mary Rose) of Conroe; sons Keith Johnson (Sandra) and Vince Johnson (Janet) of Houston and Darryl Johnson (Janet) of Ingleside; nephews V.W. Uher III of Conroe and Victor Uher of Shenandoah; niece Meredith Uher Zalesak (Richard) of Sugarland; grandchildren Lisa Johnson and Lindsey Johnson of Austin, Keri Johnson of Lufkin and Tracey Johnson Reyes (Marco), Erik Johnson and James Johnson of Houston, Adam Mundine (Brittany) of Abilene, Brandon Mundine (Crystal) of Corpus Christi, and great-grandchildren Julian Johnson of Lufkin, Carmen and Olivia Burley of Lufkin, and Dylan Mundine of Corpus Christi. Vinette will be dearly missed by all those whose lives she touched, and her spirit will live on in all the people that knew and loved her. We will always remember her.
Viewing will be held at the Charlie Marshall stateroom located at 814 East Main in Rockport, TX Friday May 20, 2011 from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM. A memorial service will also be held there at the Chapel on May 21, 2011 at 2:00 PM. Interment will be at the Lamar Cemetery after the memorial service.
