Yvonne Stillwaugh

Yvonne Marie Metheny Stillwaugh, born 27 January 1924 in San Diego, California, died 29 June 2014 in Houston, Texas. During her 90.5 years Yvonne saw the end of WWI, WWII, the Korean War, Vietnam, the cold war and the ongoing wars in the Middle East. She survived the depression, worked in the Hollywood studios, studied at Chiounard Art Studios, was a teller for the Bank of America and was deputy comptroller of the 11th Naval District from which she retired almost 40 years ago. She married William Henry Stillwaugh 28 November, 1952 in San Diego and the two of them traveled the world, from Guam where daddy was stationed, to almost every continent where they danced the world away. She traced her family heritage back to Switzerland in the 1500's, the French Huguenots, and the irish immigrants and followed them from Philadelphia, PA through Ohio, Iowa, Nebraska and finally to San Diego, CA. she was very proud of her heritage and belonged to the NSDAR for many years. She was also very active in her Roman Catholic parishes, both in St. Brigid's in San Diego and in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, Houston, Texas. Yvonne was predeceased by her mother and father, Clyde Earl Metheny and Alice Marie Hossler Metheny, her husband William Henry Stillwaugh and her first born grandson Joshua Stillwaugh Lloyd. She is survived by her daughter Sandy Jo Stillwaugh Lloyd (husband Joseph Stanley Lloyd), her grand-children Rachel Marie Lloyd Hooker and Matthew Joseph Lloyd, (wife Melissa Calderon), two great-grand-daughters Sophie Margaret Hooker and Stella Josephine Hooker. Yvonne will be missed by her many friends who have spent a lot of love and time during her last years to make her happy. The family extends their deep, sincere thanks to Tara Sails and all of her staff at Anointed Hearts for the love and care they showed mother these last six months. A rosary will be recited on Monday, July 7, 2015 at 10:30 am with a memorial Mass at 11:00 am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 6646 Addicks Satsuma Road, Houston, TX 77084. A private entombment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery and Mausoleum in San Diego, CA .
