Rebecca Hardaway Obituary
Norwich - Rebecca "Becky" Jeanne Hardaway left this world to be with her Savior on July 5, 2024, at the age of 81 years.
Becky was born April 22, 1943, in Des Moines, Iowa to Leonard William Ross and Berthina Elaine (Elliott) Ross, the youngest of three girls.
Becky graduated from North High School, Des Moines, Iowa in 1961. She then attended the Iowa Methodist Hospital School of Nursing. While in school, she met the love of her life, Maurice (Ed) Edward Hardaway. They married April 4, 1964 soon after she graduated with an RN Diploma.
Ed and Becky moved to Monte Vista, Colorado in 1964 and had three children, Monte, Matthew and Ronda. Becky and her family attended the Monte Vista Nazarene Church and she was involved in the San Luis Valley community through church activities, her kids' sports, and women's softball leagues.
Becky worked as a registered nurse (RN) for over 50 years, giving excellent care to thousands of people in need. In 2001, when Ed became ill, they moved to Marsing, Idaho. Becky and Ed quickly became active members of the Marsing Church of the Nazarene. They were married for 38 years when Ed passed away in 2003. Becky continued as a Home Health Nurse until her retirement in 2015. In 2022, Becky moved to Norwich, Kansas to be near her sons and their families. There, she attended the First Baptist Church of Milton. Becky loved the Lord, her family, sports, ice cream and a good potluck!
Becky was preceded in death by her parents, and stepdad Warren P. Black, her husband, Ed, sister Elaine Snow, brother-in-law Rufus Snow, brother-in-law Kermit Hermansen, and great grandson Nash Kreutzer.
She is survived by her sister, Charlene Hermansen, her son Monte (June) Hardaway, and grandchildren Colton & Lindsay (Conner & Rowan) Hardaway, Jennifer & Travis (JJ & Cambree) Rinebarger, Cody & Alesa (McCoy & Boone) Kreutzer; son Matt (Windy) Hardaway, and grandchildren Victoria, Adrianna, Faith, Mason & Joslyn Hardaway; daughter Ronda (John) Cossel, and grandchildren Johnathon & Rachel (James, Christopher & Scarlett) Cossel, Jessie & Grant (Jeremiah & John) Lentz, Rebecca & Jairo Rincon-Cossel, along with many, many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, August 2, 2024, 3:00 p.m. at the Marsing Church of the Nazarene, Marsing, Idaho. Interment will be at Del Norte Cemetery, Del Norte, CO in September.
