Hazel Chapman Obituary

Hazel Henrickson Chapman 1922 - 2011 Hazel Henrickson Chapman, 89, went home to be with the Lord on November 11, 2011. She was at her home with all of her children, when she succumbed to pancreatic cancer. Born at home June 30, 1922 on a south Nampa farm to Myrtle and C.C. Henrickson; she was raised in farm ways. She attended the small rural Southside Blvd School near to her home. She later moved on to the Nampa schools where she ultimately graduated from Nampa High School with the class of 1940. In the past few years she has helped organize a yearly get-together with her classmates. Professionally, she turned to nursing and was trained at the original Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, graduating class of 1943. She frequently talked about her specialty nurses training experiences in Denver. She married Ray Eugene Chapman on February 14, 1946. She and Ray raised their family on the family farm north of Nampa. Even though Ray preceded her in death on June 25, 1999, she continued to live on the same farm. Her first job after graduating as a Registered Nurse was with Dr. Joseph Saltzer in Nampa, and later she was a Nampa School Nurse for 18 years, retiring in 1984. She enjoyed watching Nampa's children grow up, and was the friend of many over the years. She and her family attended the First Presbyterian Church in Nampa for many years and later attended Boise Valley Christian Communion Church and Cole Community Church both in Boise. Some of her favorite recent interests were a Bible Study class in her home, Samaritan's Purse Projects, and Boise State Bronco football games. Special to her heart were the Boise Rescue Mission Ministries activities. She was the care-giver for her husband and her two parents in her home for many years. She and her husband traveled internationally to places important to them, including Israel, Brazil, Canada and Portugal. She is survived by her five children Jay (Kelly), John (Ruth), Debi Ziegler, David (Leann) and Joel, and by seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She is also survived by all of her siblings, brothers Levi Henrickson (Mildred) of Nampa and John W. Henrickson (Ilene - deceased) of Atlanta, GA, and two sisters Esther Harrison (Bill - deceased) of Nampa and Mary Lee Sharp (Wallace) of Selma, OR. A grave-side service will be held at Nampa's Kohlerlawn Cemetery at 2:00 pm on Thursday November 17. Memorials can be made to the Boise Rescue Mission Ministries.

To the entire Chapman family:
Words are so inadequate to express the sorrow we are feeling with you. Love and fond memories flood our hearts and minds as we reflect on times shared by our families. It is such a bittersweet time - bitter because your mom is no longer with you on this earth; sweet because she's free from pain and all that encumbered her while on earth. She's seeing God face to face, and reunited with Ray!!

We love you and will continue to pray for the Comforter and Prince of Peace to walk with you through this holiday season.

I am sorry for your loss. The Chapman's have been a big part of my life and the Chapman Farm. Hazel always had a smile and put up with the rowdy corn topping crews having lunch in her front yard. Your mother and grandmother will be truly missed. The joy of the Lord is your strength. Nehemiah 8:10 You are all in our thoughts and prayers. Renee and Fred Hukill.

Our heart felt and deepest sympathies go out to all the family. Hazel was truly a grand Lady, and by what I have seen a most wonderful mother by what I see and know of my associations with her family. I know that I am a better person for having had the opportunity of being associated with her & also Ray before he passed. I was very grateful for their loyalty to our dental practice, and the continued loyalty of your family. It is always one of the toughest things we deal with in life to lose Mom. They are always such a rock in our lives, and I am sure you are all feeling that. Isn't is wonderful to know that through the tender mercies of The Savior, Jesus Christ, we will all live after this life and will see one another again. May you be comforted by Him who knows & loves us all. May He help ease the pain of separation and the loss of her presence from your lives. We will miss her too.

We offer again our sincere wishes and prayers for the peace and understanding of the Savior to heal your hearts, and may you all be blessed with countless memories of her noble life.
