Herbert Denton Obituary

Herbert "Muggs" Denton passed away on Sept. 03, 2006 at home surrounded by his wife of 44 years and his family. Herb was born on Jan. 27, 1943 to Lillian and Herbert Denton Sr. in Antioch Calif. Herb was the only boy and the youngest sibling to five loving sisters. Ann (Don) Vick, Fran Waite, Yvonne "Pud" (Jim) McQuay, Lynne Ditmore, and Darlene Abel always loved their little brother "Muggs". Herb grew up in Concord, Calif. and graduated from Barber school in 1961. Herb and his high school sweetheart Judy Morelli were married on June 30, 1962. Herb's pride and joy were his wife and three daughters born during the 1960s. To give his children the lifestyle he wished for them he moved his family to Boise, Idaho in 1972. Herb owned and operated "The Sportsman's Barber Shop" from 1973 until his health condition forced his retirement in 1997. Herb loved traveling, camping with his family, and looked forward to hunting season each fall. Herb also loved fishing and horseback riding, but spent most of that time helping his daughters with their fishing poles, bait, and horse tackle so they could have fun. Herb is survived by Judy his wife, his daughters Lena (Billy) Smith, Deanna Coy, and Teresa (Robb) Whittington, his grandchildren Todd, Megan, Dana, Jacob and Nicole. Herb is preceded in death by his mother, father, a grandson, two nieces and a nephew. The family would like to thank Gail with St. Alphonsus Home Health, Alta, Jay, Connie, and Judy from Life´s Doors Hospice. Services will be held at Cloverdale Funeral Home on Friday, September 8, 2006 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation be made to The Saint Alphonsus Foundation, in memory of Herbert Denton. Herb's mother wrote this passage in her bible. It is a fitting tribute to the man we all loved. "Herb, faith in God and self. The assurance of your step with head held high denotes these characteristics. A winner's gold medal award." Dad we thank you for your unconditional love.

Dad,
Words cannot express the love we have you,and the way your love has enriched our lives.
You gave us a foundation to live by. You showed us the importance of family, and unconditional love.
You always put us first, spoiling us. You treated Mom and us with respect setting a standard that could not be matched. You gave us a true sense of family with love and security. We always felt safe.
Whenever we needed anything you were there.
There was never a time you didn't let us be ourselves, Lena the Queen, Deanna the Tomboy, and Teresa the Brat. You loved each one of us the same, appreciating our individual personalities.
You teased us, giving us a sense of humor, you scolded us, teaching right from wrong.
Our lives on this earth will not the be the same without you, but you left us with loving memories to comfort us until we are all together again.
