Michael Quinno Obituary

Michael Joseph Quinno
1948 ~ 2016
Mike (Pop Pop) Quinno went on an extended fishing trip with family and friends who had passed before him on July 6, 2016, after a hard-fought, commendable battle with pancreatic cancer. Mike was born in Woburn, MA on July 28, 1948 to Michael and Marion (Wright) Quinno. As the baby of the family he was spoiled (and sometimes tormented) by his three older sisters. Mike was proud of his large family and his Italian heritage. After playing softball in the Navy, stationed in Puerto Rico, he eventually made his way to Idaho where he spent the last 46 years living and loving life. Mike worked for St. Luke's hospital for 32 years, retiring in 2012, giving him more time to do what he enjoyed. He was always up for a new adventure (in between his naps), whether it was traveling, golfing, fishing, barbecuing his famous tri-tip or spending time with family and friends. He liked being at the "cabin" at Terrace Lakes and had a passion for the ocean. He loved traveling, whether it was to Mazatlán, Costa Rica, Roatan, the Oregon Coast, or any other location that took him to the ocean. Mike always dreamed of owning a boat and living on the water, and most recently fulfilled a dream on his bucket list of going to the Florida Keys, where he traded his naps in for all-day fishing. He leaves his memories with his darling wife of 38 years Joanne, his AMAZING children Jason Quinno Stoppello, Jennifer Quinno-Miller and Jamie Quinno Bowen and his daughter/sons in law, Monica Stoppello, Steve Miller and Robin Bowen, who he loved like his own. His pride and joy and what kept him going each and every day were his grandchildren, Finley, Crosby and Corali. Mike is also survived by sister Lucky (June) Miller and her husband Kenny, whom he was very close to, as well as his nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members.
There will be a "Party for Pop Pop" on Thursday, July 21, 2016 from 5 to 9 pm at Philippi Park (2299 S Philippi St, Boise, ID 83705). Food and drinks provided. Come and go as you please and dress in respect for Mike…wear your favorite t-shirt!
P.S. Pop Pop, were you right, does Bigfoot really exist??

Mike and I frew up very close personal friends, in fact we were best friends from jr. high school, high school, and after in our military time as well. We were co-captains of our gymnastic days at Arrowview jr high from 1960-1963.
We both worked at movie theaters in San Bernardino. We would have both gone into the army paratroopers if he was not just a little to young at the time I went in. So he decided to go into the Navy instead. We both went into communications work in the military.
I'll tell you the truth we were best friends right up to the time he decided to move to Idaho.
I missed my buddy all of the years that fellowed afterward.
God bless you Mike in heaven where I know that you are at.
Your best friend, Harry

I am so glad that I got to meet this lovely man & everyone else years ago. This is the best tribute possible. Such a beautiful family. Forever in my mind he is healthy & so happy as he prepared to walk both of his girls down the altar. He met every challenge with wisdom & courage embraced by so much love & support. You are all in my heart, thoughts & prayers.

Love, Robins Mom
