Rena Day Obituary

Rena Mae Day (Douglas)
1934-2013
"Mother is the word for God on the lips and hearts of all children"

Born to Warne & Bessie Douglas (Allen) on the 3rd of May, 1934. She was the 3rd eldest between her natural siblings Donnie (Darlene), Bobby (Lois), Sharon and Bonnie (Dave) but also shared a life long sisterly connection with her cousin Pat Shelton. She was raised in Emmett, Idaho until she met the love of her life, Richard A. "Dick" Day, and began their long and fruitful marriage on the 26th of November, 1952. Together they raised 9 beautiful children- Debbie, Teri, Becky, Greg (Paula), Denny (Sue), Gary (Julie), Jeff (Kelly), Ricky (Shelly) and Tammy (Marcus). Rena has also been blessed with twenty-two grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Spoiled with kisses & hugs every chance she had, creating a special bond with each and every one. Years later, her 3 step-children David, Richard, Sandy and their families were introduced and happily forged into hers. All of whom she welcomed and adored.
Rena worked hard her entire life to be and do the best she could for her husband and children. She eventually retired from St. Lukes Hospital where she was a treasured employee and friend.
Gatherings of any kind and for any reason were a staple in her life but it was Christmas Eve in her home that she enjoyed the most and had become the family tradition for more than 5 decades. She would spend all year shopping to ensure everyone had a present under the tree... even had spares for unexpected but warmly, welcomed guests. She greeted everyone with kind words and an infectious smile. She loved her family and friends truly and unconditionally. She taught us the meaning of kindness, joy, warmth, encouragement, tolerance, sacrifice, forgiveness and above all...endurance.
On the 13th of November, 2013 Rena was reunited with the Love of Her Life, her many beloved family and friends. We miss her every minute of every day and will never forget the wonderful memories we share with her.
Her sister, Bonnie Vogt, has been gracious enough to open her house at 212 E. 47th in Garden City on the 7th of December, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. Rena's family would love to invite all she has touched in her life to join them for her final "potluck" gathering and Celebration of Life. As per usual for Rena, the "more the merrier" and "come as you are" will be the way we pay our respects and say our last goodbye.

Blessed be the ones touched by this Angel, our Rena Mae

Hi mom. Another year gone by without you. You don´t know how much I want to call you and talk. Maybe you do. You, dad, and Cody were in my dreams the other night. Dad didn´t know me. He looked at me and asked `Is that you Hazel?´ Were you guys going to name me Hazel? Thanks for not doing that. Anyway, I love you mom.

Dear mom, it's been 10 years yesterday that I last saw your beautiful face. Not a day goes by that I don't think about you. We all miss you so much. I pray you are with dad and happy. Will see you later. I have so much left to do in my life so am in no hurry to get to Heaven. Everyone is doing good as can be expected. I sure wish you could have met Selah and my other great grandkids. I think Andre' is the only one you met. I have 5 now. Looking forward to being around when my first great great grandchild arrives. With God willing it could very well happen. I love and miss you so much! Your daughter Becky. PS- tell Tammy to quit picking on me...lol

Hi Mom,

Missing you this holiday season and especially last night and today. This is our second Christmas without you and things are not the same. I always hear that change is good. Change isn't always good. I didn't get to see any of my brothers and sisters this Christmas Eve. I did get to see Jeff today. He brought me some firewood. I did have a wonderful day with my own kids and grandkids. I know you're watching over us. Love to you, Dad and Cody.

Love you Mamajama,
Burito

Everytime I walk by your picture, I tell you, "Hi, miss and love you." Seems like yesterday that I was talking to and hugging you; yet seems like an eternity also. I feel so blessed that you are my Mother XOXOXO !!!

Dear Mom,

It was one year ago today, Nov. 10th, Matthews birthday, that you, Tammy and I hung out. I'm so glad you got to have your martinis that day. I'm also so very thankful that we got to spend the afternoon together. I miss you each and every day and wish that there was a telephone to Heaven. I'll be up to bring you flowers on Thursday. Maybe before, if it's going to snow Thursday. It's been a long long year Mamajama.

Love,
Debbie

P.S. I went to the doctor today and when they called me back to the room they said 'Deborah Lynn'. I thought I was in trouble. I usually was when I heard those two names together.

Hi Mom,

Sure missing you. Mothers Day was hard yesterday. It was Dads birthday too, which was hard. I want to call you every day. I have 4 voice messages on my home phone that I listen to from time to time. I couldn't get past the first one for a long time, but when I did, I discovered 3 more. You were asking me about my driver on one of them. I sure do miss those raceday phone calls from you. I love you Mom.

This is our first Thanksgiving without you Mom. I hope you're eating dinner with all our family in Heaven. I hope I have better luck with my turkey than you ever did with yours. Yours never got done, remember. I smile thinking about that. I also smile when I think how you used to make pickles. Not good pickles, but you always tried. Love you Mamajama!
Happy Thanksgiving..

Hi Mom,
I've sure been missing you and wanting to call you every day. And say 'Hi Mamajama' to which you'd reply 'Hi Burito'. It's been a long tough 9 days. Worried, wondering about where and when you'd be laid to rest. And rest you can now, or do whatever you want now. I've been working on music I hope you'll like for your celebration. You kept an eye on me from the top of my computer desk so I'm sure it's done right. We had another Angel to watch over us always now. Will you give Cody, Dad, Mommu, Poppu, and all those we love up in Heaven, a kiss from me? We'll meet again Mother and I'll be so happy to see you again. I've always loved you and I always will. Life just won't be the same. I keep grabbing the phone too....

Love,
Debbie

Dear Rena Mae, You have always been a great sister-in-law (more like a sister) and a faithful, loving friend. I am going to miss you on fb. I still have one request that I haven't opened yet and will leave it just like it is, so I see your name everyday. Please give all the family my love. God speed, Rena. Love you.

Dear Mom, one week today and I still cannot believe you have gone to heaven. You are so beautiful and we have all been shaken up over your passing. The only comfort I can find is knowing you are with dad now. Hugs and kisses to all. I miss you mom. Love Becky
