She was a loving and caring woman that gave all she could to her church, her family, and her friends. She is survived by her sons, James Black, Jr., wife Agnes of Bloomfield, Harun Black of Atlanta, GA, and Glenn L. Black of Meriden; her daughter Judith M. Black of Hartford; her grandchildren, Tesha Black-Patterson, Kaia, Khary, Jabhri, and Masai Black; her great-grandchildren, Ebony Clarke, Joseph Husman, and Kuwesi Black; and her great-great-grandson King Bless Jordan; and a host of nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her son Robert H. Black, grandson-in-law Christopher Patterson, three brothers, and four sisters.

Glenn and family:
Sending you my heartfelt condolences from Atlanta, GA. Sorry I can't be there in person for the services, but you're all in my thoughts and prayers. Your mom was a very special woman and I'll never forget her.
The first thing I think of was how much she loved her family and how well loved she was in return.
As a young woman, she served her country. Along-side her husband she worked very hard, raised a wonderful family, was active in her church and community and was a very giving person.
For the past 30 or so years that I knew her, she aged gracefully, accepted the indignities of declining physical ability with her charactaristic humor and always made the best of things without complaints.
Although it's a sad day for those she left behind, I like to think of her now re-united with her mother (that she lost very early in life), her father, and your dad, Bobby and other relatives who have gone before. I'm grateful that she didn't suffer and just slipped away in her sleep. She had a wonderful life and we were all lucky to have her.
May she rest in peace.
Love,
Joe Carbone

To the Children of Mrs.Black: I've known each and every one of you in your family, and I must say you had a very classy Mother and Father.
Your parents was a prime example of a loving and caring family.
I remember Mrs.Black, always dressed to the maxs, hair always done, she was an impecable dresser, house always kept very clean along with her sons, and her daughter Judy, who was my best friend in grade school. You all had a wonderful mother, may your memories of her remain with you the rest of your life.
