Marvin A. Getz
83, Carmel, passed away on April 27, 2013. Marvin was born in Epiphany, SD on March 3, 1930 to Archie and Magdalena (Miller) Getz. Marv attended South Dakota State University, enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1947, and earned the rank of Major. He was in the Wisconsin National Guard for 25 years and was self-employed, spending his professional career in sales. In retirement, Marv volunteered his time at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, reading and spending time with his family. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents: Archie and Magdalena (Miller) Getz, brothers: Ronald, Lloyd and Wilmer Getz. He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years: Rose (Haissig) Getz; Children: Christopher (Pamela) Getz, Shelley (Neil) Saveriano, Dana (Michael) Moore, and John Getz. Grandchildren: Amanda (John) Langins, Samantha (Corey) Johnson, Griffin Getz; Scott, Katherine and Emma Saveriano; Lily, Grace, and Joseph Moore; Brian and Andrew Getz. 1 Great Grandchild: Nora Langins. Sisters: Marceline Sachen, Verlyn Larson, and Brother: Darrel (Rosalie) Getz. We would like to thank the special caregivers at Sunrise Living on Old Meridian for their gentle and loving care of Marv over the past two years. A private Mass for family was held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 10655 Haverstick Rd. E. Carmel, IN 46032 on Monday, April 29, 2013. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to SRIVERM, a non-profit educational scholarship fund for underprivileged children, 5000 W. Vliet St., Milwaukee, WI 53208. Flanner and Buchanan - Carmel
