Patty Powers Obituary

Patty M. Powers 66, of Richmond and Hamilton Lake, IN, died Monday, May 9, 2005 at her residence in Richmond, after an extended illness. She was born August 4, 1938 in Highpoint, North Carolina, to Roy and Dorothy Fowler Mickey. She grew up in Jacksonville, Florida, and was a graduate of Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida. She was a social worker for Richmond Community Schools. Survivors include her husband, G. Fred Powers, Jr., whom she married August 27, 1960 in Jacksonville, FL; daughters: Sandra Elizabeth "Beth" Macke and husband, Jon of Newnan, GA and Kimberly Lynn Kinsey and husband, Chris of Lake Worth, FL; son, G. Fred "Trey" Powers III and wife, Marta of Newnan, GA; mother, Dorothy A. Mickey of Jacksonville, FL; sister, Betty Sorensen of North Reddington Beach, FL; four grandchildren, Fredi & Sydni Kinsey and Brad & Jay Macke. She was preceded in death by her father, Roy Mickey; and a favorite uncle, Jay Witcher. Her memory will be a treasure to all who knew her. She was a gift from the Lord and a bright light on this earth. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 13, 2005 in Riggle - Waltermann Mortuary, Richmond, with Rev. Robert F. Wyrick officiating. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 12 at the funeral home.
