My dad, Jere D. Guin, M.D., was a colleague of Dr. Hurwitz: collaborating on many research projects and published articles. My dad thought very highly of Dr. Hurwitz as a person and as a fellow practitioner. I became a patient of Dr. Hurwitz when I contracted a bad case of poison ivy; and his amused reaction "How can you have acquired this when your dad is a world expert on poison ivy?" has ever resonated in my memory. He was exceedingly bright, professionally well-regarded, funny and personable. He humbly expressed to me an unabashed appreciation and friendship for my dad that warmed my heart. I´m so sorry I missed his passing and service. I would have loved to express my affectionate familial feelings on behalf of myself and my late father. He was a peach!
